"My understanding of normal is likely very different from your own, so I can't speak fully on what is considered weird elsewhere. Weird is very contextual. I would say you seem nervous and more care-free by my standards, for what it's worth."
He did all the same find it strange how amused she was by either their conversation or her own take on it, but it was passed off as him misunderstanding or missing context with the situation. It was difficult to explain everything in relation to their conversation fully, in part because even he didn't know everything there was to know, and because despite how he thought and felt about others he never wanted to offend someone that was potentially of his own species. Ward held other Shinjin in high regard, and he only felt pity for the Shinjin that were born and cast away while others looked down on them as if it was somehow their own fault.
"I wish I had a satisfactory answer, but I don't. Nothing I could say on the matter is likely to make you feel better about it. I would still be careful while you are here, as not every Shinjin is as open of outsiders, or those shunned Shinjin as I might be. This is a beautiful place, the entire Planet. It's been called a paradise even, but we are very set in our ways. The Shinjin have been around since time began and before some races were even brought into existence as a thought, so it's hard for some to want to look at things any different even if they disagree with them."
He wanted to be comforting, but he had no idea how to be, and a part of him wasn't sure he should be. He held no ill-will towards this person, but he understood the need for removing those born from sour, rotten, or otherwise bad fruit just as much as he looked up to those born of golden fruit. It was a part of things, and it was as much a part of the greater balance of his race as anything else. His hand waved over the food as he completely changed the spread, meaning different food combinations and flavors, mostly as a way to distract himself from his thoughts and perhaps doing the same for her before he spoke.
"That's right. And I don't. I was on Earth however. I had decided to leave and finally go experience things a bit more up close. Perhaps that is why I felt the pull when you arrived because I hadn't been gone long, and I believe I have a close connection to this planet. Perhaps when I return to Earth we will meet again there. It's a strange place. Very loud, crowded, not what I'm accustomed to. Meeting in a more neutral setting might perhaps put us both at ease."
