A ringing began to be heard, emanating out from a building long since unused by the grand kais and Shinjin of the territory around it. The structure, while certainly not crumbling, had not been maintained in some generations. Its purpose long forgotten, and the bell of alarm inside it ringing to the recognition of none. The chime continued, growing louder and louder, before eventually it simply... stopped. What that meant to the curious Shinjin that had investigated it, no one was sure. Perhaps it was nothing? A lot of the older relics were pretty harmless, and it was hardly worth disturbing the grand kais themselves over it. And thus the Clock of the End was left to rot, and the sword Palibur long since disturbed from its rest. It seemed as if the Shinjin were doomed against the coming storm.
Elsewhere, a crack can be heard as the very air itself seems to shatter like glass. Hovering a few feet off of the ground, the vertical line looked similar to that of damaged glass, glowing purple. Slowly, from the centre of the damaged reality, a singular squirming tentacle eked its way out. Followed by another. And another. Then, larger ones. A horde of fleshy purple mass flooded from the widening gap, growing larger and more extravagant. Baleful orange eyes and sharp, slavering maws groaned and shifted chaotically as the gap continued to widen into a haphazard, jagged circle. The inside of the growing portal revealed only that of a dead, grey world filled with twisted trees and crumbling ruins.
Slowly, a figure stepped through the portal. Clad in a frilly, sleeveless pink dress, Phakk did her absolute best to step around the tentacles and fleshy mass. She was never quite sure why her magic always decided to act like this, but she wasn't sure she'd ever get used to it... Her bare feet touched down on the fresh and green grass around her, prompting the shinjin to let out a sigh of happiness she hadn't even expected. It felt so... so nice. it had been a long time since she touched grass. She... wait. Had she ever touched it?
...
The purple haired girl moved to lay down immediately in the grass, dirtying her dressed as she rolled around happily. Behind her the portal closed with a similar crack, tendrils and maws receding back into the abyss she stepped from as she rolled around. "This is AMAZING! And I thought grass was just a myth! I should have known Mario wouldn't lie to me!"
