Blood ebbed freely from Azuki's mouth, the girl angrily wiping it off and pushing herself back to a standing position. Stolas, her opponent, waited patiently. The long-legged quad-winged Demon looked much like an owl, only WAY bigger, sporting glowing red eyes. Despite how frail a literal bird looked, their feathers were both a potent defensive and offensive tool - Azuki's weaker attacks glancing off the shimmering brownish-white feathers as he loosed magical bolts in retaliation. The whole affair would be much less painful and draining if Azuki simply opted to ditch the corporeal body, but she didn't. After her meeting with KAMAE of all people, a spark had re-ignited a burning part of the girl's soul. She needs to be pushed, strained and hurt. There was no other way to reclaim the power lost on her severance with The Entity.
Her battle power was still significant. Greater than most of the known galaxy and enough to place her high on the bracket in the demonic fighting pits. It wasn't enough. It would never be. "RAGH!" With a strong-willed battle cry Azuki charged. Her fingertips erupted with emerald-colored claws, a technique she had decided to keep even after The Entity had been expelled from her body. Stolas' feathered ruffled in anticipation, stray bolts of magical energy heading Azuki's way to slow her down. Crossing the distance at a blistering pace, the warrior simply swatted the attacks away to keep her momentum up, lunging downward to swipe at the owl's lanky legs. Making a noise halfway between a hiss and a hoot in response, Stolas' bottom pair of wings quickly went to cover his weak spot, Azuki's attack biting in and drawing sickly yellow blood but failing to do much more.
"I can appreciate the fearlessness behind your choice of weapon," The owl spoke purely in projected telepathy, silky voice purring directly into her mind. "Yet they are so... archaic." A wing beat later, and Azuki was stumbling back, claws retracted as she snarled and fired off a salvo of Ki blasts. "Inefficient, short-ranged, and imprecise. A warrior of your caliber should not try to make do with such a handicap." Inches away from striking, Azuki's blasts disappeared as they made contact with a magical shield. The responding gale of razor-sharp winds sliced her exposed skin. Falling to one knee, breaths coming laboriously, Azuki surrendered. The crowd screamed and chanted, some sort of currency exchanging hands as Stolas chuckled audibly. "Yes... you are far better than the usual rabble that comes crawling through here. I have an offer. One you shall find interesting." The Demon hooted, stalking through the challenger's entryway and leaving Azuki to pick her bloodied body off the floor.
She ought to find Stolas again to avoid insulting him at the least, even if the thought of demonic deals was enough to sour her mood instantly. Azuki had yet to find any trace of The Entity yet, but she could FEEL it was lurking in Hell somewhere. Too afraid to face her head on, no doubt. With a frustrated sigh, she'd exit the fighting pit. One of the nearby food vendors tossed off a stick of unknown meat, the usual tradition after the first week and a half she had started coming here. Keep the gladiators well fed and drunk on praise, and they'd fight.
