Hello,
One thing I've always enjoyed about Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, is the side adventures that take place, such as Goku dealing with pesky Red Ribbon army minions, or trying to find Master Roshi's long lost stash of magazines. Some might not like the 'filler moments' in the series, but I've always found it quite charming and enjoyed the little tales that could spin off from the main narrative.
So, with that in mind, I would like to suggest a questing system. This system would be player driven (no staff DMing required), it would be self-contained (think like a filler episode in an over arching series), and at the end would provide a set reward for set criteria. All that is to say it should be incredibly straightforward and simple to include, should the idea have merit for consideration!
A more specific breakdown of the idea:
- A quest forum is created, where quests are made available in different locations (Earth, Namek, Plant, etc)
- Each quest has a difficulty rating, which increases reward for completion (Rank 1-5, for example? Or easy to epic?), and each rating has a set word count to meet, in order to be considered 'finished' - so long as the objective is done, also these could be PL restricted for higher level quests?
- Based on the difficulty, a set reward is gained, for example:
Quest: On planet Earth, a raging android is threatening to attack West City. The Mayor has called for anyone to help, and to stop the android from starting its rampage and decimating the city...
Reward: +200 PL, +100 zeni, x1 senzu bean (or other object or thing or reward, etc)
Note - The above is purely an example, and all amounts/rewards/word count requirements are open to change
The reason for this suggestion is mainly a chance to encourage a different RP type, have a set scenario to play around with (without much pre-planning needed), while also promoting opportunity to indulge in that sense of adventuring RP similar to a Dragon Ball game or filler episode. The chance to solo RP can also be made easier, when given a set objective and purpose, and making a player (who otherwise isn't able to post with others, for whatever reason) a way to accomplish different events for fun.

- The higher the difficulty, the better the rewards
- Players would claim the quest, posting in the specific quest thread, and then complete it
- Players would then complete a quest report, hand it in once done, and have it approved per any other thread (but with quest bonuses attached)

The best part, is that it's elective - you wouldn't need to take quests, it's mainly just a chance to gain some rewards and a bonus for using another system of the RP. Also, there's potential for quests to be used as segues into plotting, as the word count requirement is only a minimum, people can go beyond that, and include development throughout the adventure.
Positives:
+ Player driven
+ No staff involvement needed
+ Optional side stories and events to take part in
+ Opportunity for players to indulge in a simple side story, for a little bit of bonus
Negatives:
- Implementation
- Writing quests and setting rewards
- New areas of the forum
- Staff approval of completion needed (but this could just be incorporated into grading?)
Thank you for reading!
(Note: Full disclosure, I have been playing DBZ Kakarot, and the game involves a similar mechanic with side quests, which has been really fun to do alongside the main DBZ story.)
