The demon's trip to the east was mostly done out of a spontaneous desire to travel rather than any sort of agenda. He had everything he needed, he just had to wait patiently now. But to do that required his excitement to die down, and so he decided a trip to some remote place was required. To stay in his lab was torture to him at the moment and so... here he was. He was in the middle of no where, walking through the forest alone with his thoughts. His journey through the woods however was interrupted by a sudden little noise.
If he hadn't been listening he might have missed it, but the noise was just loud enough to make the demon stop. His whole body freezing as he listened more closely and only after remaining stationary for more than a minute did he hear it again. His eyes drifting down to the ground to where it came from, and there he saw it. A hairless thing, small and fragile... A pink little object that was no bigger than a lighter. Kneeling down, Kamae parted the grass a little to get a better look.
There on the ground, barely moving was a small fragile creature. A baby of a local squirrel, helpless and covered in marks. Its life spent as it tried to survive in this cold world. The demon watched it for a moment longer but soon stood up once more to leave. But as he was about to walk away, another squeak, barely able to be heard. There Kamae stood, staring a head as he considered his options. No one would care if the squirrel died, and it wouldn't be missed by anyone. Its mother was an animal like it, and would simply have more... A cold thought but it was the reality of the world.
Another tiny squeak, weaker and almost faint. The demon's gaze returned to the tiny body, watching it as he fought within himself. He could just not care... He could simply forget he ever saw it. In a couple of days, he wouldn't even think about this thing... Let alone a few centuries. No one would care...
"Fucks sake..."
Kamae stated as he rubbed the back of his head and groaned his frustration as he kneeled down to scoop the tiny pink creature up. Frigid, nearly dead and covered in wounds. It was an almost certainty it was going to die without aid... The demon stared at it in his palm, his serpent eyes watching with a look of disinterest... and yet he felt himself want to help. Reality was cold... but he supposed if he did help it, at least it would have a fighting chance. Something not many got in their lives.
With a groan of utter annoyance and exaggerated anger, he let his energy flow into the tiny squirrel in his palm. It wasn't long before it was squeaking loud enough to be heard a small distance away. Clearly cold and seeking her mother, but no animals came. Instead only silence met the poor squirrels answers. She was alone now... and Kamae was the only one here. With a huff, he gently placed the creature in his pocket before staring off into space in disbelief of his own actions. He truly was growing weak if he was willing to save a strange rat on some rock he didn't even care about... He was growing pathetic...
With that final Thought, Kamae continued on his walk.
