The cave of sinners, den of thieves, or lair of butchers. Whatever they were called, it mattered little in the grand scheme of things. Only that they were people who did terrible things to get what they wanted. Things things ranged from kidnappings, to theft, murder and smuggling. Yet this particular den had a guest today that made even this band of individuals uncomfortable. A regular client who had come for supplies that no one else bought. Not many dared speak to him, but Kamae didn't mind it much.
His supplies ranged from people, to chemicals, and even equipment that one could not get easily. Though they were a band of thieves and cutthroats, the things they delivered to this black dressed man disturbed them. To be fair to them however, they knew what was happening to the helpless they delivered. That none returned alive was a testament to the fact he was using them for his insidious experiments. Even as Kamae stood silently and patiently outside of their warehouse, the demon said nothing as he was watched by the many passing pirates.
Mumbles of unease could be heard even over the clanking of moving crates and machinery. Kamae couldn't make it out, but he didn't care to listen to their nonsense regardless. He kept a smile on his face the whole time as if a friend visiting, but he rolled within his own mind at the idea of being here any longer than he needed to. Thankfully as if gracing him with the answer to his prayers, the man who was going to speak to him about his order approached. A grim look on the pirates face as he came closer did not fill Kamae with hope however.
"Look... I know we had a deal but this new law has made it harder to... acquire what you need."
The pirate tried to explain that the new law that required surveillance on special individuals made it harder to "acquire" the sort of test subjects Kamae required.
"So... we gotta up the price. Double in fact."
The pirates face was stern and grim. It was clear they had been struggling and Kamae could deal with that he supposed. The demon's smile never left his face as he looked to his left where the cage of an assortment of people was located, varying races, genders and ages were held in open display. Kamae stared at them a moment, taking measure of each of them before looking back to the pirate.
"Fine... Agreed. You have the rubies I requested as well yes?"
This made the pirate turn to his right and wave to another who came over pushing a large box the side of a frig on its side. As it came to a stop by them, the pirate would open the crate to reveal a large sum of blood rubies. As Kamae picked one up to examine it, he simply nodded before putting it back down and crossing his arms.
"Alrighty then. Looks to be in order. If you have everything then simply send it to the usual place in central... I'll pay you then."
As the pirate hauled the crate away and the order taker went about his business, Kamae went to the cage to begin the final assessment of the people locked within.
