[Note: This takes place before "Not Again" and the accords coming into effect.]
Cipher had been giving a lot of thought on what to do with himself, now that he was no longer being pursued by the government. The incident that had not only cleared his name, but had exposed the truth behind his siblings madness and death, had now left Cipher a world full of opportunity.
The problem was Cipher had no idea what to do with it.
He had been alone for so long, keeping away from people and travelling from place to place, scavenging to survive. He simply wasn't sure what to do now that such things were no longer required. Living amongst people, having a normal life, it just felt...strange to him. He really wasn't sure he could do it. But he couldn't simply squander his new independence.
Guess the first thing to do would be to find himself a home. The problem was, well, being a fugitive survivor for so long meant Cipher wasn't exactly well off when it came to money. No matter though. People had been able to build homes for themselves, why not do so himself?
The first was location. Cipher found himself trying to find a place rather secluded. Old habits died hard, really. He managed to find a small island, clustered with palm trees, somewhere along the southern coast. Not a bad place to pick, and plenty of material too.
Next came harvesting said materials. Being an android with super strength, the ability to use ki, and a mind like a computer, made the task almost trivial. It wasn't long before the whole island had been cleared, leaving several piles of logs and other materials. He even managed to convert to leaves into make-shift roping.
Then came the tricky part. Actually building the house. It wasn't the easiest thing in the world. Sure, he had knowledge on HOW to do it, but reality always had little things to make life just that bit trickier. Logs slipping out of place, rope snapping, etc. Fortunately, Cipher had managed to find a good deposit of clay on the ocean floor, which certainly helped with binding everything together. Another benefit of being an android was being able to work long hours without needing a break.
After a few days of non-stop work, Cipher had finished building the basic shell of his home. Sure, he would need a door, glass for the windows, and furniture...and plumbing...But hey, at least it was a shelter from the elements, and it was progress.
As he stood back, admiring his work, a sound reached his ears. It was distant, his heightened senses being the only thing allowing him to hear it. He looked out onto the horizon. He could make out a thin trail of smoke. Someone was in trouble. Without a word, Cipher kicked off the ground and flew towards them.
A group of teens had taken a yacht out for some fun, when the boat's faulty engine suddenly blew. Now they were scrambling for dear life, panicking as they were sinking out in open waters, seemingly miles from anywhere. So imagine their surprise when a flying, pale figure suddenly swooped in and began picking them up put of the water. Naturally there was some panicking at first, but when they realized he was carrying them to solid ground, they were quick to turn around and embrace the help.
He moved the safely to his island. Fortunately plenty of thrm had phones on them, and after a couple of hours of waiting, the authorities had come to pick them up and bring them to the mainland.
"Thank you so much!" One of the teens, a young woman, thanks profusely, "My daddy's rich. If there's anything you want for this, just ask!" Cipher took a glance back at his makeshift home. "Some contract work done would be nice."
And that was how the rest of Cipher's home was built.
