SETTING SUN
Fend's PL: 1 (Suppressed, 58k Base)
Far from the crumpled ruins of what used to be Korin Tower, the burnt husks of trees and craters created by mighty sound waves and debris falling from Earth's very moon above, a river wound out from the depths of the forest. The outskirts of the woods was comparably calm to the calamity that shook the forest's center. Even in the dark of the night, it was clear to see that the tower once proudly rising from its center was now noticeably absent from the horizon.
Bloodied flecks of red fabric ripped from a cloak clung to some of the rocks along the river's edges. A worn wooden ear torn from a mask, its paint chipped and edge burnt, was washed upon a distant shore, telling the tale of something that happened- something bad. Far further down the rocky beach was its conclusion- a humanoid form, drenched and collapsed in a heap at the water's edge.
It had been two days since the collapse of Korin Tower. Two days since Fend unleashed the last of her energy to take down Sesame, and releasing a roaring light across the woods. Her right leg was completely broken bent, broken and bloodied with a purplish tinge warning of an oncoming infection. Though hidden by her mask, deep burns persisted around her eyes. Her lower mask made of black fabric that had once covered her mouth was absent- a blessing in this case, as suffocation would have been likely should it have still clung to her instead of being washed away. There was barely anything to be sensed from the body- by all accounts, being left to bleed out in its outskirts for so long in such a state would result in her death.
And yet, a weak heartbeat still pulsed through her body. Around her arm, burnt and charred enough to be more black and red than its natural yellow, the hilt of a pale blade had extended and coiled around her forearm. Its end dug into her skin, pulsing with a dull light. It could not offer much energy, but for now it gave Fend just enough to survive.
A small eagle fluttered down from the trees, approaching the bloody body. The scavenger hopped atop the cloaked figure's shoulder and pecked, only to jet back into the skies when the collapsed Shinjin stirred.
"...Urgh." Fend had to force her eye open. Everything was a dark blur. Her ears still rung, but she could make out the sound of crickets chirping, and identify the light of the fractured moon above through the night sky. She tried to extend her arms and push herself upright, only for her body to cry out in pain. She hissed in agony and collapsed back to the ground, violently coughing water and blood out of her lungs. Every part of her body was in pain. Where was she? What happened? Fend closed her eyes tightly, struggling to remember what had happened...
...Terryn, Jackie, Russ- The tower- and Sesame and those other two... They...
Fend sucked in another raspy breath. Right- everything was gone. And yet she still lived... At least, for now. She tried to move again, but another pulse of pain from her broken leg made it very clear that she wouldn't be able to find any hope of recovering on her own. "Ffffuck." She cursed, fully realizing the gravity of the situation she was in. She had no home to return to, and no friends on this planet to pull her out of this mess.
She was exhausted- even now with the fleeting consciousness she'd regained, the thought of closing her eyes and letting unconsciousness wash the pain away was awful tempting. Though her eyes drifted shut, Fend fought to stay awake, gritting her teeth. No, she had to remind herself. I don't want to go back there.Ki Masquerade is in use, and Ki Suppression is used to narratively represent Fend's being very hurt from being bonked really hard.
