The skies were unusually dark for what the forecast had called for mostly sunny, clouds seeking to wrestle control above as they showered snow in flurries onto the village below. The witch stood upon a barren rockface, overlooking the cries of joy and laughter of the many families, whether local or on vacation, rejoicing in the arrival of fresh powder for their sledding hills. Celeste watched on in silence as a brother and sister hiked to an impossible height above the rest, eager to brave a perilous journey back down the slope to the others, all for the sake of crafting a memory they could look back on fondly together. It was touching really, and it churned something within the blond. She felt her eyes drift to her chilled fingers, coiled tightly around the Staff of the Moon as she continued the part of sentinel atop this perch.
How long was it since she had someone to do such things with?
Was it all too late? Was she so far gone to save?
A hot pang of nostalgia seared through the witch as she closed her eyes in reflection.
I’d give anything, to be the one who kept composure. To start over...
There came a calming exhale, the cold biting at her lungs, and she would watch on below as the siblings gave each other a high-five before they pushed off to brave the journey. Celeste never had any brothers or sisters of her own, though was never in short supply of friends to call on. The experience always enamored the witch, whom was always fascinated with the idea of having someone to possibly call on in times of need. She considered the weights of such burdens, how they were possibly no different than any other ties, and how they varied from them in all regard. Celeste couldn’t help but offer a weak chuckle at her own habits. Here she was yet again, chasing infatuations already fading.
The darkness frayed at the edges of her corporeal form until the witch would dissipate from the cliffside.
The alleyway was narrow and smelled of dust. As much as Celeste would have rather taken to the streets, she couldn’t very well assault anyone in plain view. It would cause a panic. Unfortunately, that was not in her plans today.
”Another go then.”
Perhaps Kowlin had taken an unexpected direction. Towards the mountains, perhaps? Oh dear, it felt as though she might never find him now. Perhaps she should have followed from the shadows after all. Anyone in this group had always been difficult to track down, that much remained prevalent to this day. Though there existed a lingering suspicion that this was the place to search, this unassuming village one might never expect to find the shinjin to linger. It was worth a shot, and with any luck Celeste would happen upon her old colleague before the likes of the President.PL: 24,000 | Antisense: Active
