“Not with that attitude you won’t.” Nero smiled, he was hoping to be encouraging in some way; Zhalla did look interested at the very least— giving his words some thought.
Nero stroked his chin and looked Zhalla over. “Well, first of all, proportionately, you’re what, 235 centimetres tall, muscular build; your heart is physically quite large compared to most averagely sized people.” He was teasing her, clearly, but he was also trying to make a point. “I didn’t get it from your job, you know that.” He added, nodding sagely. “Need I remind you about your interactions with Dontoph? Your rational thinking when it came to the situation with my extended family? Yeah, you’re a bounty hunter. Whatever. When it counts, you make the right calls. Tough; but right.”
With a hearty laugh, Nero grinned, finding her reaction to him seeking her out rather amusing. “You bet I would, for sure.” He retorted, with a single finger gun gesture.
However confused she seemed, Zhalla was still rather intrigued— she furthered her questions based on what Nero had been saying and he was more than happy to provide some answers. “Since we’re working with a sense that anyone can awaken; its something of an instinct. Think about how you can focus on a sense that you have exactly when you need it. Also, no, I didn’t talk to myself. In that clear state of mind, I listened to all that I am in both a physical and metaphorical sense. Does that make sense? Do you think you can try something that’s similar?”
"I can't just change my species to be able to hear the way you and your brother do, silly. Are you implying such auditory skills are something that can be learnt? Cause I'm pretty sure there's no way I can have the whole four ears, hearing multiple sources at once thing going on with just these" She'd put a finger behind each of her ears and wiggle them back and forth to emphasis the difference, but also to be a little funny about it all. If she could genuinely become that good at hearing she was both interested to learn and unsure if it was something she even wanted to be capable of at all.
She'd give a light laugh watching Nero stroke his chin and look her over, "Only thin you're missing is a beard for that" She'd quirk a brow though when he began describing her overall appearance, pointing out how given her larger size she'd likely have a heart to match that. Her face would sink into an annoyed look but it was clear she was trying not to smile behind the unimpressed scowl. She hadn't exactly measured herself either but Nero's guess at it did make her wonder how true it was.
"Tsk, you're never gonna drop that now are you?" She'd huff lightly in regards to him bringing up her interactions with the little Namekian kid. "So I was nice to one kid and have some morals, big whoop, so what?" She'd spin around in the captain's chair of the ship again, speaking whenever the chair faced back to Nero again. "Are you sure you aren't just reading into things too much because you want me to be this big softie you seem to think I am?"
Zhalla would rub the back of her neck as she tried to wrap her head around what he explained next in regards to the energy sensing, she didn't want to say she still was struggling to follow along but she'd likely only look like more of a fool if she were to pretend that she did understand. "...I-it doesn't make sense yet no, sorry agh" How hard could this sensing stuff be really? She could do anything she put her mind to-- But it was hard to put your mind to something she couldn't get her head around in the first place. But how could she make it easier for Nero to help teacher her? If she didn't understand it currently maybe it was just a matter of how it was being worded.
"There is, uh. One other person I've spoken to about this stuff before." She'd hesitate on explaining further knowing Nero was likely to use the information against her the same way he did with Dontoph, so she'd purposefully keep it as vague as she could manage to not elude to the fact that the other person who knew of energy sensing was Noki, one of the kids at the shelter she ran back home. "He's probably not as skilled at it as you but he told me that sensing was like... Uh, feeling for yours or others 'spirits' basically. Ignoring the body and focusing on the feeling people give off, whatever that means" She'd rest an elbow against one knee and then the fist of that elbow against a cheek in slight frustration at trying to understand it all, her tail twitching irritably.
"He used to practice by focusing on sensing out specific people, his friends mainly, you know? He said everyone has a different kind of feel to them ki wise and that you can feel that when sensing." She'd sigh lightly, "Maybe that silly mind talk thing you do would be easier to learn"
“Well, no, not with any method I know of— but heightening your senses is something anyone can do, even if you cannot reach a certain level of proficiency due to biological restrictions. Saiyans are all about testing one’s limits, correct? Learning to sense energy is also heightening a sense, for example.” Nero was understanding of where Zhalla was going with this, and he wasn’t going to lie to her, but he wasn’t going to say any effort in trying to achieve something was of little use.
“Pfft— no way, not on your life. I’m going to torment you with any and all examples of kindness I witness from you.” Nero ginned and began to ‘laugh maniacally’ but in a purposefully stupid and ridiculous way. “Fear me, I bring positive reinforcement! OoOoOoOoOo~”
Focusing on tutoring Zhalla now, Nero patiently waited for her to consider what was presented and ask further questions if need be. She didn’t quite get it in a theoretical way just yet, and that was fine, her being a more practical learner wouldn’t surprise Nero in the least. “That’s okay, you don’t need to ‘get it’ right away. Have you had any other experiences with it, maybe asked anyone else about it?”
As it turned out, she did! Nero was curious about what Zhalla had to say on the matter, so he listened intently. “I see, I see. That is a solid way to look at it as a baseline. They’re definitely onto something. You could also liken the ‘feel’ of someone and hence their energy with how things change when they enter a room. Have you had any moments where you notice someone quicker in that way? Try thinking about that.”
Regarding telepathy, Nero was happy to tutor Zhalla in that as well, but that skill had its own hurdles. “Mmm, I dunno about that. You also need to expand another sense or aspect of yourself to manage telepathy. Learning to sense energy would make learning telepathy easier rather than the other way around, from what I’ve seen with others trying to learn it.”
"I suppose that is true yeah" He did have a point in that heightening your senses was something anyone could do, regardless of species. She'd quirk a brow lightly at the part about Saiyans being all about testing their limits but she knew there was truth to it for just about every saiyan out there in some way or another. She knew he'd mentioned it as she was one and it acted as a point to her in that she too could test her limits with this.
Zhalla would let out a light groan at the response she got in regards to him never dropping her having been kind to Dontoph. She was of course expecting that kind of answer but still. He did make her laugh lightly after the fact though and she'd give him a gentle push on the shoulder in response. "Guess I'll just have ta start being extra mean whenever I'm around you from now on then?" She'd tease back, of course she wasn't going to start doing that but Nero couldn't torment her with examples of kindness if she chose to start bullying instead! "Torment me with your positive reinforcement all you want, I'll find a way to get you back for it" Was she really making a challenge out of it? Probably! Most likely, given what she was like.
When it came to if she knew anyone else she'd spoken to about energy sensing it did seem to help Nero out to mention the one other example that came to mind, Noki! And what he'd told her in regards to the technique. The other saiyan seemed to agree that what was said was a solid way to look at it, but soon asked her if she'd had any moments where she noticed someone quicker because of their energy and how things changed whenever they entered the room. Her eyes widened slightly and her face flashed a soft red in colour when she realized that the first example to come to mind was the man standing before her-- "Uhh"
She seemed to 'short-circuit' for a moment or two before blinking herself back to focus. "I notice that with you" The tiny Zhalla in her mind that was present whenever telepathy was being used on her would smack a hand to her face in a facepalm. You were supposed to think that part, idiot. Not say it aloud! She'd wave her hands frantically to try and take it back, "Wait no- Not like-- I mean like--" She'd stumble over her words trying to think of a way back from blurting that out, even though it wasn't even something all that incriminating in the first place and actually would make the training easier given he was something energy wise she was already picking up on easier then others.
"Probably cause you get on my nerves so often, yeah that must be it!" She'd finally settle on the poke back approach, folding her arms and standing up straight, eyes closed as she gave an affirming nod. "But uh... What do I do once I have that in mind? What's there to really think on about it?" She'd sigh lightly hearing that telepathy was likely no easier and in fact would probably be better to learn only after she'd gotten energy sensing down pat. "Well you're the expert there I suppose. But would learning sensing be easier from within there? Since it kinda removes some of the outside distractions, right?"
“Oh yeah, super mean, put different kinds of coloured tiny candies in the same bowl and say they’re all the same level mean.” Nero said this in a way that implied such an act was more funny than mean, but that was the point. “I don’t get why people think that’s not a funny prank, it’s hilarious. Anyway, bring it on, see how long you manage!” He added, once again going for that fake maniacal laugh.
Zhalla thought through what Nero had suggested; and it just so happened she had an example to use— Nero himself. She fumbled on her words a fair bit, and Nero couldn’t help but smirk. “Oh yeah, absolutely it’s that, nothing else at all, I just annoy you.” His smirk turned into a mischievous grin all the same. It was pretty obvious that if she truly found him super annoying they wouldn’t hang out, let alone rocket off to Plant for any conceivable reason other than when it was truly necessary for them to do so.
“Exactly, I think trying to go through at least the basics of the technique in this environment would be a good building block. I’ve been told that proper usage of the technique once you get the basics down is best attempted where there are multiple sources so you can get familiar with how it works. Afterward, you get to fine tuning, differentiating individuals in crowds, that sort of thing.” Nero explained, waiting to see what Zhalla thought on the matter. “Are you ready to try something then? Focus on how I toooooooootally annoy you when I show up, heheheh.” Well, that might do the trick on it’s own.
Zhalla grumbled lightly at her meanness being compared to the kind of mean that is mixing different kinds of little coloured candies. She'd grumpily tighten her crossed arms, her expression changing to match that same grumpy crossness. "Hey, I can totally be actually mean if I wanted to. And not in the goofy kinda way you're suggesting!" She'd quirk a brow at him again, "It'd be unwise to challenge me on this don't you think?" She did take pretty much all challenges seriously, after all.
"Yep! That's right!" She'd smile weakly knowing she'd fumbled the bag, hard on this one and needless to say Nero's smirk certainly didn't help her in trying to backpedal successfully whatsoever. It was already obvious to the other saiyan that that clearly wasn't the case though as he'd already figured, they wouldn't be on this ship taking this trip together if she only ever found him annoying and nothing more. "...Okay so, it's maybe not just that but--" Well she was sure he knew so no need to touch on it further, right?
The idea of trying to pinpoint different individuals in crowds from energy sources alone sounded messy and confusing to Zhalla, especially since everyone had energy signatures so in something like a crowd there'd be a big clash and jumble of all the different, moving energy signatures of everyone within the crowd. She shuddered at the thought but knew that that learning was for much later on so there was no need to worry about it for now. She'd bite her lower lip for a moment when asked if she was ready to try something but eventually she'd give a nod. "Dunno how good I'll be at it but may as well give it a shot. What're we starting off with?--" She'd get her answer pretty quickly in that regard.
She'd shoot him a quick look but she did eventually do as instructed too, closing her eyes and starting her focus on the feeling she noticed whenever Nero showed up, it was currently present too after all which helped a lot in trying to narrow down focusing on it. She'd furrow her brows with her eyes still closed and tried to clear her head of anything else but focusing on that one feeling. It took a minute or two but she did eventually begin to start feeling something so she'd start explaining it aloud so Nero could assess from there. "I can't see you with my eyes closed at the moment-- And I know you probably haven't even moved since prior to me closing them so I can just guess where you are anyways and be right, but I can kinda feel where you are in comparison to me, I think"
“Yeah, I know.” Even so, he didn’t seem to be bothered by that. “Me too, but that doesn’t immediately devalue anything else about us.” Curse him and his reasonable point-making! That said, he wasn’t sure why she was so insistent on being seen in almost an exclusively negative light; not that it’d deter him from being nice.
“Hey, don’t worry about it— just some banter, no need to justify it to me. If you actually found me properly annoying we wouldn’t be here.” Nero said with a light shrug, that much seemed obvious to him; and if he found her annoying he wouldn’t have asked her a favour much less be friendly towards her much, if at all.
“Don’t worry about how proficient you are at it. This is only the beginning. You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” Soon enough, Zhalla made some attempt at reaching out with whatever skill in this area that she had. Nero waited patiently for her to describe what she was experiencing before doing anything in response. “Makes sense. Try and focus on me as I am now, maybe see if you can track me. When you think I’ve stopped moving, say so, then guess where I am in relation to you, it doesn’t have to be pinpoint accurate, a vague guess is fine.” As such, Nero floated upwards as silently as he could manage and slowly floated around the room gracefully before settling to her direct left several meters away.
"Never said it did ya goober, is it so wrong to hold a little pride in that side of ourselves though? I'm grateful at least that I have that side of myself where I ever need it, yanno?" Now she was starting to sound like him, ugh. "It's the side I'm most used to too" Maybe that would help to answer Nero's confusion on why she was so insistent about it?
"You got me there, yeah that's true. Probably wouldn't of let you on my ship and be flying to another planet with you if I only found you annoying." She'd give a smile though before adding, "Doesn't mean I don't find you annoying sometimes though. I'm sure you know that too, since I'm sure it's mostly intentional on your part" She'd give him a playful elbow to the side.
"Wise wording. That's one to remember" She'd nod in agreement, resonating with the comment about having to start to be great. It'd be a good one to mention to the kids at the shelter but Nero didn't need to know about that one and thankfully it was a thought she kept to herself this time. She'd focus on Nero's words and on Nero himself as the true training for sensing his energy started.
"Uhhh okay, I'll try my best" She'd pause and wait a short while for Nero to change where he was position in the room of the ship, she couldn't hear him moving... But a feeling that fluttered deep down in her gut was pretty sure that he was in fact moving in someway. She frowned hard and let out a breath as she concentrated, she was pretty sure he'd stopped moving now but where had he moved to? She'd look around the room with her eyes still sealed shut, focusing on the feeling she felt whenever near him. "You've stopped--" She'd quirk a brow when looking to her left... She was pretty sure he was over there somewhere, it felt like the right direction at least.
She'd begin to blindly walk towards where she felt his 'feeling' was the strongest but it now felt oddly more floaty then before, but she couldn't pinpoint as to why. She'd eventually stop only a couple of steps off of being directly underneath him before speaking up again. Reaching out with her hands to try and confirm that she'd reached the right spot "It feels like you're here, but--" She'd seem rather disappointed when her hands never reached any confirmation of that she'd been right in her direction of sensing. "Well you're clearly not here, aren't you. Damn. I thought I had it then."
“I wouldn’t say I’m proud of it, though I’m glad I’m capable of it if it’s necessary.” Ideally he wouldn’t want to rely on being harsh too often either. All things in moderation and all that.
Nero chuckled, Zhalla more or less agreed with what he put forward. It was nice that they could make sense of the same thing in similar ways with different reasoning. “Oh, yeah, absolutely, you bet. I always make it funny though.” He responded by playfully elbowing Zhalla in the same way right back.
Waiting for Zhalla to tune into her surroundings, Nero patiently floated above, assessing her motions and decision making as he moved. She picked up on him stopping pretty quickly after he did, so she was certainly on the right track. Zhalla moved in his direction until she was directly below where he was in mid air. While she thought she failed, she had in fact made decent progress. Nero tilted and eventually floated upside down before gently booping Zhalla on the nose. “That’s because I’m above you as well. Good try though, you correctly guessed the direction I was in. You have to consider elevation as well when sensing energy. Now let’s try again. Say when you think I’ve stopped, then try and find me.”
Once again, Nero gracefully floated away, weaving around things before quietly landing on the ground off to Zhalla’s right on the other half of the ship.
"Well I am! It's gotten me this far after all" She knew the other side was important too though but she didn't need to mention that to Nero, he already knew that for himself and she was sure he knew that she thought it important too.
Zhalla let herself laugh after he'd elbowed her back the same way she'd done to him, "Sure, I'll let you have that one too, you do at least make it funny" He was pretty good at the whole making her laugh thing at this point after all, so it had to be true to some extent!
She'd try and pick herself back up after the initial disappointment of not finding Nero on the first try-- Only to be caught off guard by a gentle touch to her nose. Out of surprise she'd open her eyes to look and see Nero floating upside down above her. Her frown quickly changed first to a quick look of confusion and surprise to a great big grin! Sure she'd messed up one part but she was still much closer then she initially thought and that was pretty great for a first try on something she'd not done before! She had half a mind to pull Nero back down a give him a hug she was that happy about it-- But she thought against it on second thoughts, he was still trying to teach her too so she'd best not lose her focus and progress now!
The saiyan would close her eyes again so he could move to another spot without her seeing, it wasn't too hard, right? Simply pinpoint when he'd stopped moving and then try and find his energy again wherever it ended up on the ship after he'd stopped moving. She'd focus on him though even while he was moving to try and familiarize herself with it further, the more she felt it the more she noticed about it too. "You've... Not stopped but there's something else I've noticed, I think?" She'd pipe up as Nero continued his little journey around the room of the ship. "Actually, it's uh. Part of why I avoided learning this up until we made it a challenge here. But I'll just ignore it outside of this one instance. Less it become a distraction and put me off of fights I need to have." Her tail gave a rather intrigued swish though as she focused on that part of his energy. "It's your strength. Well, the feeling of it at least-- I think that's what that is at least. Your feeling is very strong" She'd bite her lower lip to stop herself from saying anything further on the matter-- She was sure he already knew how strong he was as he could already sense that so he didn't need to hear it from her-- He didn't need to know he impressed her further then he already was aware of either.
Her mind would get focus on something else soon enough thankfully though as she felt that he'd stopped moving again. "You've... Stopped!" Little by little she was starting to sound more and more sure of her own answers on the matter, this was good! Now came the harder part of going and locating where he'd stopped at. She'd start by following the path she felt him go off in, shuffling around the ship with her hands out to make sure she didn't bump into anything along her way to locating him-- This was mostly successful though she did almost fall over her own captain's chair at one point. "You didn't see that-"
It took some time, a little longer then the last time even but eventually she'd started walking straight towards Nero, reaching him with her hands this time since he wasn't floating up in the air this time around. Her fingers would gently brush against the side of his face before she'd stop where she was and open one eye. "Found ya! How'd I do?" She'd ask as she slowly pulled her hand away from his face, giving him a proud smile as she was clearly quite happy that she had managed to properly find him this time.
Nero would more or less concede that Zhalla was perhaps right, her mannerisms did get her as far as she had gotten, but that didn’t exactly ensure that it would get her further, though that remained to be seen of course.
As the lesson in sensing energy continued, Zhalla seemed rather happy with her progress in this space. It looked like this was the ideal learning strategy and environment for her to make some semblance of progress. Maybe his wisdom from earlier had some impact on her willingness to learn?
Nero chose to stay silent while Zhalla assessed her learning; but he would keep it in mind for after this exercise, there was something about what she said that got him thinking as well. So, he waited until Zhalla had made her way around to where he was. It took her a while, but she managed. When she touched his face— gently, of all things, quite unlike her— Nero blushed lightly for a moment. It subsided before she opened her eyes.
“Honestly? Not bad!” Nero smiled, he too was proud of her as an impromptu student. “You did get me thinking though. You mentioned that my strength is pretty noticeable, and the more potent someone’s Ki is, the easier it is to sense…” Nero idly scratched the side of his head as he knew he was about to explain another skill, but it was related to the lesson, so he may as well.
“See, many people know how to regulate their strength, to manage it, and make it seem lesser than it truly is. This is the act of Energy Suppression. It shines mostly in situations that need stealth.” He nodded sagely. “I think, to get the drop on Egumel and the rest of their loyal clods, we need them to think I’m not as strong as I actually am. They’re major egomaniacs, they’ll absolutely fall for it.” Nero sighed, evidently there was a problem with this idea. “I’ve not fully managed it is the problem, ever since the incident that caused problems for Pankaa I think my spirit has been on alert mode, for lack of a better word, and my body is currently more geared to ramping up than settling down.”
Nero stroked his chin for a moment, taking some more time to think. “I have an idea. If I focus on teaching you and try to use Energy Suppression as a teaching tool, I might be able to manage. To teach is to learn, after all.” He wasn’t fully sure it would work, but it was worth a shot. “Sound good?”
Her smile only seemed to grow warmer upon hearing Nero say her efforts weren't bad, she took a bit to follow along but she was doing something right clearly! Something she'd mentioned earlier though got Nero thinking too, so she'd listen again as he began to explain. Fortunately for Nero she actually had an understanding of what he was talking about this time around as she had experience in it herself, funnily enough.
"You're not gonna believe this but I actually do know that one. I've done it plenty of times before myself even-- I know it probably seems a bit far fetched, being able to supress that but not being able to sense ki in general? But uh" She'd point a thumb over to the glass cabinet that held her signature Gladiator outfit, leather jacket, skull mask and all. "I tend to use it to make sure to everyone else 'Zhalla' and 'Gladiator' are two wildly different people. Want to keep the first part out of the second's life after all, things get a little dangerous outside of work otherwise. So it kinda became important to learn at least someway to make it harder to pick up on. I tended to supress while out bounty hunting, helped to hide me more as well as making my strength different from my usual and gave all my bounties a real surprise when I turned out to be much stronger then whatever their scouters said" She'd chuckle lightly putting a hand to her chin in thought.
"Of course, I'm still not exactly stealthy as you know but hey, yanno, it still helps here and there" Nero had a bit of a dilemma though and made a good point in that to get the drop on his family it'd be best if he were to supress his energy-- If they picked up on his true strength they might be able to work out the plan the two had in mind for them after all. However, he hadn't mastered the act of supressing himself yet and had been having problems learning it further ever since the incident with his younger brother. Zhalla frowned lightly as this was pretty troubling, "That's... Tough, you seem like you're usually pretty great at the settling down side of things, especially if our fight back on Namek is anything to go by... What happened must've been pretty, well. Bad"
She'd rub the back of her neck trying to think on how to help with this situation-- She wasn't exactly known for her calmness and for settling down, Nero himself had pointed out that her energy was fiery even-- But she did know how to supress her energy despite this. He soon suggested an idea of his own, her lessons doubling as both lessons for her as well as himself to practice suppression which she supposed was one thing they could try about it. "I mean sure yeah, we can do that but don'tcha think we should maybe try working on calming that spirit of yours too? It'll probably only be difficult to practice if you're fighting yourself to learn it" How they could calm that though? She hadn't thought that far ahead yet okay.
"Yanno I could also have a crack at trying to teach you too, since I already know that one" She'd give a grin at the thought of getting to return the favour of teaching, "But whatever works for you we can go with, If you reckon you'll learn best when still teaching me, then let's do it"
“Oh? Well that’s pretty slick of you.” Nero nodded, rather impressed. He supposed that it was pretty easy for Zhalla to pick up with Energy Sensing since she figured out Energy Suppression first instead. “That makes sense, though there is another technique that could help you in furthering the difference. I don’t know it myself; but it’s Energy Masking, when you combine the two, they would synergise well. That could be something for another day, if you’re interested.”
Nero took a moment to process what Zhalla said about the incident he mentioned. “See that’s the thing, I am good at that. The thing is, I also grew exponentially in strength immediately after we left the battlefield. Approximately quadrupled in strength, in fact. I don’t think I’m fully caught up with that.” There was also the matter of several strange happenings on Namek that Nero had been looking into, trying to find leads on all of that was also confusing.
“I dunno, it’s a lot. It’s just a lot. If you have any ideas I’d be happy to hear them.” She did have a point too, he was kind of fighting himself over it at this point. “I’m curious, how’d you manage it? Run through it with me while we do another exercise.” He suggested, waiting for Zhalla to close her eyes before floating around once again, returning to almost the same spot that he left.
"Oh?" Zhalla seemed intrigued upon hearing the mention of another technique that could help her in furthering the difference between Zhalla and her Bounty Hunter alias. She was of course interested in anything that helped her out in that regard-- Even if she wasn't exactly known for being keen on receiving help with things. "I'd for sure be interested in learning that one then-- How could you teach it though if you don't know it yet yourself? ... Or were you interested in learning together?"
She'd listen when he explained a little further on his situation regarding the battle and his brother. She was still very much aware of the fact that when they first took off, Nero wasn't too fond of the idea on talking on it all too much-- Everyone back home had only ever wanted to talk about it to him after all and she didn't need to make things worse. But while she was sure everyone else had questions for Nero regarding the matter, she was less sure on if anyone had given him the time yet to just talk about it as he needed to to unload it all from his mind. "That'd, yeah that'd sure complicate things further, I mean that's a lot to catch up on" She'd frown lightly in regards to the rapid power gain-- As if he didn't already have enough on his mind already!
"Well... I'm not exactly uh, the best person when it comes to finding ways of calming as I'm sure you know by now. But well I think a good first step is to let all the frustrations and confusion out first and foremost. If you let it all sit and brew it's just going to bubble and boil over in due time. You mentioned how everyone you knew wanted to talk about it, but what if you talked on it in your own time and on your own terms and had someone just, listen for once on it? No talking about it with you, just you unpacking it all and someone who'll hear you out on it all, maybe even help you carry that weight a little even"
"Oh Supressing? Well uh" She'd close her eyes so that he could float around the room again for another practice of sensing. "How do I put this... You ever played hide n' seek as a kid? Kept a secret even? Yanno that feeling you have for those? When you're hiding during a game or keeping something hidden, it's like that but with your own energy. There's of course always the chance people can still find you in hide n' seek and people can find out about a secret you might be hiding too, but the point of both is to hide them as well as you can so the likelihood of that is low" She'd 'look' over the room with eyes still closed trying to get a feel for his ki and location once more. "Make a mental little box and stuff your ki inside where people are less likely to find it!"
“Well, I don’t especially have any use for it— at least for the moment; but I’m aware of the fundamentals. I have a theory as to how I could manage it and it isn’t a bad skill to have, so I wouldn’t say no to figuring it out together. As I said though, something for another day.” Nero sounded interested, and more than happy to explore more versatile skills as one might expect from someone like himself.
Nero appreciated Zhalla’s understanding of his current situation, she wasn’t hounding him or pushing him to speak up on it, yet remained available to listen— this was what was needed, for both himself and Pankaa in his opinion. “You’d think other people would have figured that out by now, huh?”
Zhalla’s assessment of Energy Suppression was simplistic, but it embodied a lot of the core values of the theory behind it. “Yeah I’m just a step to the left. Anyway, I like your interpretation.” Maybe Nero didn’t need to ‘catch up’ with his own strength maybe he could force it to catch up to and find him. Could he try to blend that goal with how he was teaching Zhalla? Well, there was only one way to find out. “Lemme try something, keep trying to sense me.”
If he was essentially ‘hiding’ from her in plain sight, with no physical barriers that would be of use other than Zhalla closing her eyes and Nero defying the basic laws of physics through sheer will alone in flying, if he tried to hide on a ‘secondary layer’, it could maybe give Zhalla more of a challenge— and if there was one thing Nero just so happened to be good at, it was challenging Zhalla!
Nero got into a loose meditative stance in mid air, and did his best to refocus how and why he wanted to master Energy Suppression.
