Saliva poured from the glands in Kombu's mouth since first getting a whiff of the fish he had cooked for himself and the royal visitor. It was as if a dam had been demolished, and the trapped liquid finally had an egress point. All the same, the Saiyan did his best to make an excellent first impression. That included swallowing his drool whenever he had the chance to. This way, none of it would trail from the corners of his lips.
This desire to make an exemplary lasting image on the Lord also translated to behaving with desirable table manners. It was a tough battle to make, fighting the instincts of a Saiyan to vacuum up any food that was before them. Scrounging for scraps and battling others at the table for seconds, thirds, or even fourths! No. Kombu was going to do his best to stay civilized. Lord Frozen probably already had his own judgments about the warrior race. It was better to set an example and show that not all were alike.
Kombu behaved accordingly, using his silverware, occasionally wiping his mouth with a cloth napkin, even chewing his food thoroughly before swallowing it and chasing the mush with a sip or two of iced water. But right underneath the surface? Kombu felt he had gone to the afterlife the mere moment this fish's meat had touched the very first tastebud. The Saiyan was almost crying, in fact, stoic as he sat. Yet, a tear was racing down his left cheek.
Lord Frozen's praise and following proposal brought joy to Kombu's heart. He would swallow his food before he made a response.
"You praise me too highly, Lord Frozen. But I thank you. If I do ever have the opportunity to cook for you again, I'd certainly enjoy it. I love to cook, after all, as well as bake. If you've never had brownies before, you will be in for a big surprise." Kombu quickly rose a finger to add on to that. "And you always want brownies baked fresh. Never get them from the store, as they never are the same in quality."
There was still more than enough fish on Kombu's plate. Which was surprising to him; by now, the dishware would have been picked clean with nary a scrap to find on its surface. Then again, Kombu was taking his time to truly enjoy this meal rather than practically devour it whole. To pass the time, it might benefit the Saiyan to find out more about the man from Arcose.
"Might I ask to learn more about you, Lord Frozen?" he asked, eyeing the royal being while he cut another piece of meat. "What's your home like? What could you tell me about your people?"
