It had been a long journey back to the 'capital city', and when she got there, Iyre wasn't even sure it was worth the effort. Gods above, but her body hurt.
The beating Ollo had given her was severe. She had to hand it to the boy, though, he'd been careful to make sure he didn't hit anything vital. That was impressive. She couldn't imagine he'd seen many Herans before, but though the injuries had kept her down for the count for hours, they weren't life-threatening. He could have finished her off if he'd wanted to. He should have finished her off.
Instead he'd convinced her to lower her guard, and then hit her harder than she had ever been hit before in her life. Others had attempted to teach the Heran that they had power she couldn't dream of, but Ollo was the first one where that message actually felt like it had weight, and the boy hadn't even been trying. He was a sniveling, miserable, cowardly wretch... and she had no idea how he was able to stand up to her best, let alone humble her so completely.
As she staggered to the edge of the village, she couldn't see it as a city no matter how hard she tried, it didn't take long for the locals to see the obviously injured woman. Her towering frame was covered in bruises, blue skin mottled dark red and ugly purple wherever it showed. Her battle armour was cracked in several places, though the grizzly trophies she kept attached to it were, stubbornly, just fine. She'd taken the effort to collect those where they had fallen before she began her laborious journey across the wilderness.
"Any of you, going, to help me, or just, gonna stare?"
The villagers looked between themselves, confused, for a moment - and then she staggered and fell to her knees, as she had done far too many times in her journey. Damnit.
That did at least seem to spur them into motion. A couple of brawny Warrior Caste moving to help drag the woman up to her feet and towards the nearest healer.
"What happened to you? You look like you got in a tussle with a landstrider and came off worse for it!" One of them joked.
Iyre smiled. Or, at least, her lips pulled back to reveal bloodstained teeth and gums in something which might be mistaken for a smile.
"That, might not be so far from the truth, friend. Help me get back on my feet and I'll tell you all about it."
