With Chromo temporarily out of the picture, Tarch had to carry on on his own. Luckily while the little bug was hibernating, this young hybrid had his new yellow companion to keep him company. Surely his brother understood. After all, the two of them did find it together. Plus the cloud was practically alive, and despite having no face was absolutely brimming with emotion. It bobbed and weaved when excited. Puffed up when angered. It even drooped to the ground when it was sad. Unfortunately what Tarch didn’t know was this thing’s origins and how the heck it even worked. He knew it could fly and that it didn’t like it when he was stealing stuff.
Maybe today that would change slightly. Tarch was jolted awake by his cloudy mount late into the morning, seeming overly excited and begging to show him something. So with nothing better to do and no one to stop him, the pre-teen hopped onto Cotton and soared off into the great unknown. And unknown it certainly was! Tarch knew West City like the back of his hand. But it seemed like today he was bound for a part of the world he had never even seen before. Literally on the other side of the earth stretched a thick blanket of trees. It was frankly beautiful, way different from the dense cities he was used to. Something about it seemed comfortably familiar, like the time he found Cotton. More notably though was the massive tower poking out from the forest. Tarch could feel his ride start to jitter with glee.
“What is it, boy? Is that what you wanted to show me?” Cotton gave a happy shiver. “Alrighty then! Let’s go!” So the two zipped over to the top of this grand monument, leaving a thick yellow trail behind them. Soon enough the two would find themselves at the top, facing a large opening plenty big enough for the child and cloud to enter. Unfortunately it seemed as though Cotton was hesitant to enter. Tarch nearly fell off thinking he was about to go in. “What’s up?” No answer. “Come on, I wanna see what’s inside. Maybe I can finally find out what you are.”
Aft6er the brief moment of persuasion, the preteen slid off his cloud and looked around. The room was… kinda plain and empty. Was this really what Cotton wanted to show him? There was nothing here!
“Uh… H-Hello? My uh… my cloud wanted to bring me here! I know it sounds weird but it’s true!” Maybe somebody was hiding somewhere? In all fairness, Tarch had yet to spot the set of stairs on the opposite side. If he had he would have no doubt headed down to take another look. Huffing in mild defeat, Tarch walked over to the rail behind him. The view of the forest was incredible! In fact, he could even see East City. The most interesting and eerie sight was directly above him though. It was too high to really make out, but it looked liek some sort of floating ruin or something. “Woah…”
