Of all the miserable assignments she could have pulled from the higher up, Saiba wrangling really wasn’t one of the ones she’d hoped for. Saiyan warriors certainly didn’t become famous and feared warriors by weeding back the Saiba beasts from the local cesspools and wastes.
“Head out to the breeding pits and investigate these rumoured sightings of a Saibasaurus, clear out a few dens while you're there as well” they’d said...
Now here she was in the Saiba Breeding Pits, moving carefully through the area with the power masking effect in place so as not to disturb any slumbering Saiba’s, looking something that was so far only a rumour with no real evidence as far as she’d heard or seen that it even existed. She was pretty sure she was just being sent out on these stupid errands to stop her pestering the higher ups for a chance to try and prove herself...she had grown stronger...alot stronger since she had first enlisted yet still she was treated differently and it was beginning to grate on her.
Why did it matter if you were born Low Class or Elite if everyone was able to grow their power? Sure the Elites might be the strongest on Plant right now...but if Rainer or Taori were anything to go by...Saiyans...any Saiyans, could achieve a power that wouldn’t have even been considered before...and neither of them seemed to be of noble blood...at least they didn’t act like it. But then...had she really had that much to do with the Elites if she was honest…
The young woman shrugged mentally and pulled herself back to the moment, eyes moving across the dirt as she moved under the canopy of leaves that you rarely found on Plant anywhere else, looking at something while her brain tried to work out what she was seeing. The depression in the earth didn’t seem natural but nothing she’d ever come across before in her meagre travels could have made something that big...it was definitely a footprint of some kind but...it was huge...she’d hear stories of course...boasts about Saiyan’s hunting massive beasts in the wastes but there was rarely any proof that creatures of such size still existed...but here she could clearly see the outline of the footprint...the toes extended out…
The young Saiyan was immediately on her guard now, eyes flickering to anywhere that something big might be hiding but the problem was with all these caves, ravines and dense foliage it could have been anywhere...Saiba creatures even had a habit of burrowing into the earth if she recalled correctly. But this print...she moved round it...measuring it against her own footprint and marvelling at its size, before glancing ahead and behind...spotting the one before it and the one in front...a line of the weaving to where she was standing and away from her into the wastes...the space between each footprint was impressive and she had to take several long strides just to reach the next one. Jagaimo shook her head at the scene...if this was the beats she’d been sent out here to deal with then it wasn’t going to be a pushover…
She reached out with her senses, searching the surroundings, feeling the place teeming with signatures...under the surface this place wasn’t as devoid of life as it first looked...but nothing leapt out to say ‘come find me I'm a giant Saibasaur’...could something that big really be adept at hiding so well?
A thought struck her as she observed the tracks once more...floating slowly into the sky to get an idea of where they had come from and where they were heading, suddenly realising that as she rose through the branches of the trees it became much harder to see the ground than she had first expected. The thick leaves and flora obscured so much that it was a strange feeling to be under them...her feet settling back onto the ground...senses open, careful to keep her power masked so she barely registered to anyone seeking her out...If she could capture this beast rather than kill it then maybe it could be exhibited in the arena for the spectacle of all...
