"Boss I told you they are not easy to defeat." Yoku followed his boss into Kuriza City. Mint had just returned to Arcose and it seemed while he was gone some gangs had it in their heads to try to take control of the underworld. His gang had held them on of course, but that didn't mean all things were going well. They were not able to defeat them. He had to be called back to Arcose, to deal with this mess. He didn't mind being back home he enjoyed it. But he also had alot of work to do across the cosmo's. So having to return when he was not ready to was a bit annoying.
"Making me deal with them is a waste of my time Yoku. You were promoted underboss to run things while I was gone. And you had mantained them. But not expanded. I'm back to where I was months ago. All that progress lost cause I was gone a few months. Did those fools forget who I was." Mint sneared as he walked across the street towards the hideout of a one of the gangs, that tried to challenge Mint's gang while he was gone. He had the right to deal with them thanks to Azoth. He was not on the planet either so he'd proably not even know if he caused a bit of ruckus. "Tell me has anything else happened under your watch while I been gone?" Yoku rubbed his head as Mint asked this question. "No sir everything else should be fine." Mint glanced at the Heran. He better hope eveything was alright.
Kamae had grown irritated of this city almost as quickly as he did with Fend. It was a concrete jungle of advertisements, and this persistent salesmen were incredibly frustrating to deal with. Even someone invisible could be spotted by this hawkeyed sales folks, so they were persistently and DOGGEDLY pursuing any sort of sale. Kamae had found himself face to face with three different salesmen at one time and it was incredibly frustrating. Yet he kept his temper in check, moving through the crowds as best he could before arriving where he had been told to arrive.
Crudelia had been kind enough to tell Kamae that his employer, Mint or Odin as the codename given, was on Arcose. What better way than to greet the new boss themselves on their return. Slowly but surely he moved to where Crudelia said they had been sighted. As he rounded a corner, Kamae could see the familiar appearance of Mint, but the man next to him raised some questions. Kamae got within speaking range before waving in a friendly manner.
"Well Hello there."
Kamae stated looking at the Heran in question but maintaining that all to friendly smile. In truth this was irritating for the demon, as he didn't wish to act like he knew Mint around new people. So having to pretend was just a round about way of doing things. He had things to do, people to stab and people to meet. Kamae simply bowing in respect before deciding to make up an excuse for being here.
"I'm a bit lost and new to Arcose. Could you give me directions please?"
As the demon said this he looked to Mint then, and spoke to him telepathically, attempting to keep a conversation just between them.
("I assume this Heran works for you? In any case, I've been to earth lately. Didn't realize it had shinjin on it.")
Kamae said, on the inside, but the outside he was simply remaining friendly. He really hoped he didn't have to pretend this whole time... but you never know.
As Mint was walking around when he heard someone call out to him. He turned to look at person who spoke to him. It was someone he knew in Kamae. It only had been a few days maybe a week at most since the two of them meet at plant. Guess he wanted to figure out more about the planet he was going to be on. Mint glanced at him for a moment then looked at Yoku, "You go on ahead and scout out the place that we are going too. I will talk with this man and help him out." Yoku just rubbed his head assuming Mint was going to just blast and destoy this fool for annoying him, "Right..well good luck with that." Yoku walked off leaving Mint and Kamae alone for the moment.
Good for him as he didn't have to drag him anywhere else. He had the ability to talk in his mind, an ability that while annoying to deal with was very useful for keeping a conversation lowkey. Exactly what he needed when talking with Loki. 'I did not realize the planet had the Kai's. I assumed they were mostly stories.' Mint would use the connection Kamae brought to speak back to him. Mint had never encountered a kai but he knew of their legendary power and usually good natured stance on the world. There were not the type that he had much in the way of intrest in meeting. 'Walk with me I just had business up north' He would begin to follow where Yoku ran off too. 'what else is going on earth?'
Kamae watched as his subordinate left, going on a head and leaving Mint alone with the demon. He kept the connection open, knowing that speaking now would be unwise given he had dismissed his ally. The two walked side by side, Kamae slightly trailing behind as they continued their talk mentally. Mint was surprised that Kai's were real, which only made Kamae smile as he kept walking. Oh they were real alright, but they wouldn't stay that way long...
("Aye, the stories are true. As for earth...")
Kamae paused as he thought about the multiple individuals he had met, many of them were of no consequence or remotely a threat. This left Kamae with only a few worth talking about.
("I've met a being known as Fend, she wields a blade of light. It can sense evil intentions and lash out at them. Apparently Fend is its new wielder and quite proficient at its use for now...")
Kamae continued to walk, putting his hands in his pocket as he did so.
("I've learned that the earthlings work on a democracy system, voting for a president every so often. Their government functions around this figure head... I plan to run for the job. It will give us direct access to everything we need and also allow the arcosian empire to easily form an alliance...")
Kamae stated, rubbing the back of his neck as he walked, groaning as he did so. The future was full of work, work Kamae dreaded to say the least. He knew the presidency job was a maybe, but a worth while shot to say the least.
("I've already made plans and efforts to securing the position.. I just have to hope that I am able to get it...")
Kamae stated, rounding a corner with Mint, looking over at the Arcosian as he walked.
("I read up on the empire, this Azoth guy is a pretty good dude... I can probably use that if you want me too... We might even be able to pull earth into the Empire if it works... But I'd need your help with that.")
Kamae stated, his smile disappearing as he looked to Mint, their conversation still in their heads but he was occasionally glancing at Mint to see his reactions.
("But thats for after I have secured the job... I also learned there is a mercenary group known as the dirty snakes there, but I haven't contacted them yet. Their leader is currently tucked away somewhere. I am looking for him now. He might be of use if we can offer him enough pay....")
Kamae wasn't sure how well that would go over, he hadn't met the guy yet but it was possible. A mercenary group working under him while he was president would make the job easier. He had plans for them... but it was a long shot... All of this was. It could go wrong at a moments notice after all.
Kamae explained something about this kai who they were but he didn't care. He cared that kais did exist but he was hardly gonna remember who it was. The Kais in general were someone he was not going to be a fan of. So regardless of who the kai was it was not someone he would want to deal with. He nodded along allowing Kamae to take the reigns of this diccusion for the time being. Some of the infromation was not too useful. He already knew of the Earth System but Kamae suggestion of running for leader made Mint pause, 'I don't think that is needed. You would be in a postion where everyone would notice you. A spy has to be lower to the ground. Plus it is better to be a shadow leader. Find who wants to run and try to manapulaite them' deeper in his mind away from Kamae probbing, he found this to be troubling. Hopefully Kamae didn't decide he didn't need Mint and went off on his own.
And then there was more talk about other things. How Azoth was a really good guy. To try to pull Earth to Arcose. 'He will most likey want to just make an alliance. He wants to create a peaceful empire. Adding a planet as large as Earth would recieve pushback from not just the earthlings. The Important thing is making them want to be friends with our empire. They have a lot of fighters, that would be trouble for us as you said.' He was sure that was all Kamae had to say, it was not as if had been there for that long but he brought up the Dirty Snakes. He had not meet their leader but he said he was going to try to meet them. This was the second time that name was brought up. Ah that was very intresting. 'What do you know about the Dirty Snakes. I've heard of them before. How strong are we talking on this Earth.' He kept walking thinking about how maybe he should make contact with these dirty snakes as Yangcong suggested.
Kamae's gaze lingered on Mint a little while, but he decided to return it to the way forward. Fury was in his chest, as he felt his goals were conflicting with Mints at this moment, after all... Kamae wanted to make Fend suffer and the best way to do that was to be a president she could not simply remove without force. A public display could make her an enemy of state and furthering along his chances of making her despair... yet Mint was wanting him to remain in silence... to watch.
After a brief pause, Kamae listened to the rest of Mint's words. He then spoke of how the emperor wished to create an Empire of peace and add Earth as an ally, not as a subject. This made Kamae shutter at such a disgusting set of words, that an empire wanted to rule together with others was absurd... Kamae would need to kill this Emperor eventually, but for now he was just going to have to wait till he could finish his own plans. This was going poorly for the demon, as he was only feeding on old hatred, old despair and malice. If he didn't have conflict, he couldn't grow his soul to fit in the Sankishin.
("I see... very well then... I'll obey that order. Yet our goals already begin to... differ. I cannot create negative emotion, and feed on it if I cannot influence the masses... Earth is peaceful, and has no negative impacts happening to it... Without negative energy... I can't retrieve my body Mint...")
Kamae stated, eyes narrowing as he glanced at the Arcosian, a hint of Malice where as there was usually playfulness before.
("I cannot bring about my resurrection if I simply sit around with my thumb up my arse... now can I? But as I said... I'll obey for now. But know I cannot advance without creating discord and if I simply go around making mischief... I'll be hunted by those on earth who deem themselves heroes or whatever it is they wish to call themselves. If I could possibly be allowed to hire some thugs to attack a settlement or something... maybe bring some attention to the world... I could use THAT to further my own goals...")
Kamae stated as he kept walking, hunched forward and brooding as he thought about the future. Now he was going to need to revise the plan a bit, but ultimately it wouldn't matter. He would get what he wanted in the end anyways.
("Also... The dirty snakes are a band of criminals... an organization. They are infamous for their crimes and dealings. I'd wager they are as strong as you are... at least one of them is. I could sense them very briefly one day in Central city, but unfortunately it didn't last long. I couldn't judge where or who it came from. If they decided to fight against you... I'd bet they could do some serious damage.")
Kamae came to a stop then, eyes on Mint as he did so. Not only had he been doing his homework... coming up with a plan and even dug up information... He hadn't received anything besides a few meager offerings of support from Mint. No lab yet... No discord or mischief... nothing worth his efforts as of right now.
Mint nodded as Kamae explained his concerns. he wanted to gather negative emotion but how could he do that if he was not leader of Earth. He was not someone in the front. 'You just need to create negative emotion. Not be at the forfront of it? Hence, if you wanna manpulaite someone that is fine with me. To be in line. But if your so out in the open, then your not a useful spy. However, to Sastify that for the time being. I am about to go desrtoy a gang. You can take it over and make them do crimes. Cause peril to some. Not too much of course but a little bit of feed for you.' He'd have to make some compromises to his spy.
As for his other notes, of not wanting to cause trouble. And he suggested on Earth Anyway, if he could hire some thugs to cause some chaos that would make do. 'That is fine of course. You can make noise but it has to be caculated. If you are exposed then I am exposed. No easier way to be exposed then to be in postion of power. Don't you agree.' Mint hoped all of this would be enough to keep Kamae in check. At least for the time being. To keep him on a leash. They would be slowly closing in on the thugs compound as he explained a bit more about the dirty snakes. They were criminals and were infamous for their dealings. He didn't know about the membership. But they were strong. 'Now that is good infromation. I may have to pay them a vist but first lets me take care of these thugs.'
Yoku was waiting up front and glanced back "Greeting my Lord and you sir." He bowed to both Mint and Kamae. Mint glanced, "Yes, Yoku you are to call him Loki when we dicuss. You may speak to Yoku about our dealings Kamae. I trust him well enough." The Hera would never be so foolish as to spill his secrets. The Heran gulped hearing all of what Mint said. "Right..so he is the one that we need the lab for." Yoku glanced. He pulled out some blueprints, the same one Kamae handed Mint. Then he handed a second one of the lab and what it look like. The outside of the blueprints would look exactly like the building in front of them, "These are for you Loki. We will be using this old gang as a hideout for you. Destoying their leadership, then building up a new gang. To hide you. Away from Oden's terf so you cannot be found out." Mint would then point a finger towards the building, "Now i'll take care of that. Unless you want to do the honors?" He glanced at Kamae.
Kamae listened to Mint speak on subtlety as if he was a mere child or something. Kamae's blood was boiling at the thought someone was looking down on him in such a manner. He was more than capable of being a useful spy by doing what he normally does. The demon wondered if this man had been watching to many movies or was simply not informed enough to understand... But despite it bristling his nerves he bit his tongue... for now. The deal was to work together in exchange for a place to be safe for a short time... and Kamae would give Mint information. As it stood however this deal was nearly done it seemed.
"Tch... I am not foolish Mint... Do not lecture me on subtlety. I have been ruining worlds through manipulating the minds and hearts of people long before you took any shape in the galaxy."
Kamae stated as a warning, but left it be for now.
"But enough disagreements. Lets not speak on it anymore least we ruin our mutual... friendship."
As they walked, the duo were reunited with the individual from earlier. A "Yoku" who was under Mint. He was told that he could work alongside this man and he was trustworthy in Mint's eyes. The demon simply looked at Yoku, taking measure of him but said nothing in greetings. The Arcosian then offered Kamae the privilege to kill everyone inside. The demon shrugged but ultimately shook his head.
"No, I think I'll sit this one out. I'll follow you in if you want... otherwise I'll wait here."
Kamae had no interest in mindless slaughter, it was not worth his efforts currently. He had much bigger problems to deal with now... His mind already beginning to piece together what he was going to do next.
Mint nodded as Kamae seemed to be pretty cross. He was some grand manipulator who had existed long before he took any form or shape in the galaxy. Yet, he was now so weak. He had lost all his powers. If he was so great at manipulating others then he'd still be in power. Still he was useful he'd not deny that. "Of course, I do not mean to treat you as a fool. But you must know in my line of work, until proven everyone needs to be careful of even their allies. Your clearly skilled but i've dealt with many that are not. So I speak as if your one of those fools. When your not I'll make an effort to speak you more akin to our equal partnership." Afterall, Kamae could just spread about his name. In some ways it was going to be equal. But still, this deal he had made seemed to actually been an ill one. This creature already had a ton of plans.
No matter, he still work with him even if the partnership fizzled. he would rather have this man in a an neutral stance then a foe like position. And he was sure regardless of the fallout, it was not as if he'd want to destroy him at least yet. As for helping destroy the thugs, Kamae just wanted to watch. That was fine, he didn't blame him he was not a fighter. Mint would stride forward lifting his fingers. "I won't take too long then." He would step forward with Yoku as the thugs inside turned to face him. "Who the hell...what you doing on our..." Before he could finsh Mint finger fired a ray piercing his throat. "Now." Everyone else got ready to fight but Mint would flex his muscles his ki surging to life before an explosives' wave knocked them all to the ground. "Yoku kill those that keep fighting. And you can come in now Loki." Simple. That was just how much stronger then he was then all the cretains.
Kamae said nothing as the Arcosian spoke of those about him being fools and having even to say he may fix this problem in the future. This made the demon frustrated, but quelled the anger he felt before. He supposed this would have to do, but he was also feeling this alliance was not as... beneficial as they had both hoped. But that didn't mean much given they were both still in the early stages of the deal. Kamae would remain patient, as he needed to figure out everything.
Was all he said as the demon followed after Mint on being called. It was clear this goons had no chance of success, Mint was going to tear through them as he did previously. Kamae simply was here to observe, watching the Arcosian do his work. Yet during that time, the demon felt a bit of pressure on his lower back. Turning, he saw a thug who had been hiding held a blade a few inches from Kamae's lower back. The blade had stopped of course because it hit the Sankishin that surrounded him, the invisible aura of his old body.
The thug was confused, as any normal person yet his confusion would be short lived, his upper half soon splattering across the floor as the invisible Sankishin hit him. With that problem dealt with, Kamae rubbed his lower back and looked back to Mint as he worked. He pondered if he was truly going to get anywhere with this relationship. He was quickly learning that to many people were so opinionated in this region of space it was hard to get anything done. The demon's eyes trailing off absently to stare into space as he thought it over.
Mint had finished his work as he walked out of the building. "Lets get to work shall we." He sweep his hand out as tapped his scouter, "I need my builders at these coordinates we will have only a few days to get this all built." Mint said before glancing at Kamae. "I know this is not exactly what you were expecting. But I assure you. That we will have good partnership. And dynamics change as things go on. The more useful you are, the more I'll let you do your own thing. But right now I bare the brunt of any fall back. You understand. that yes? I been in this business a long time, not as long of course. But I look at trust. I look at results, but you provided some. Which is a good start. I have no qualms with saying that eventually you may wanna not be my spy. And that is fine with me but that does not mean we can't still work together. I think we some common goals that can work out. Plus who knows. You may sway me to believe what you say." Mint glanced at the building. In truth, he was just trying to assure the demon. This he was going to make work and he was sure the demon would reciprocate.
Kamae listened to Mint as he explained the situation, and the demon could see where he was coming from. In truth, it made sense though Kamae didn't wish to admit it. He wasn't going to look simply pass up a good deal, even if it came with annoying prerequisites. The demon simply sighed, leaning forward with his hands in his pockets while he thought it over. He could make use of this even if it was a step backwards. Perhaps he could bribe the contenders with his resignation to get something from them?
"Fine... I will concede and find another method. Our deal beneficial to us both and would be a waste to get rid of it so soon."
Kamae looked at Mint then as he confirmed that Kamae might indeed split away from him, and it was excellent foresight into the future. Not that it wasn't obvious given their previous disagreement, but at least Mint was smarter than most Kamae had been meeting.
"I'll look into the dirty snakes more, learn their numbers, and count their operations. Given time, we might even be able to find material to use against Derry and his crew. Or work with them. Who knows. I'll leave that up to you."
Kamae rubbed the front of his cheek then, and huffing his frustrations. Slowly turning away then demon began to walk away, waving dismissively.
"I'll be in contact soon, I need to go sort things out quickly then else I'll risk everything..."
Kamae didn't hide his distaste for this turn of events but he was willing to obey at least. Perhaps it wasn't going to be all bad.
"We will rework the arrangement the more this benefits us. But I'm not willing to put that much risk in the time being. We will figure it out." He was worried, but they would just have to deal with it. And if they did split up as long as Kamae kept his secrets then he had nothing to worry about. Anyway, Kamae was going to look more into the dirty snakes, learn what they had and count their operation. In time they are able to find information on Derry and his crew. "Was that his name Derry huh?" He didn't say that till now. Very interesting. Maybe if he meet a man named Derry it would come up. Though he would perhaps forget.
"Well yes, It might be smart to work with them. Plus, it gives you more opportunities right. If their leader is truly weak you can puppet them all you want. As I said, I just don't want you in the front in center. But we will see how it goes. Time will tell. you have your base right now at least. I'll make sure to collect what is needed so you can use it to your heart's content." And with that Kame was going to leave so Mint would check his scouter. "Bring the men in and build up this base. Make sure no one figures out it is us of course. It would be bad news." Yoku gave a nod. "I'll make sure that is said on the double." And with that, the two went to make this compound.
