HUNTING THE HUNTER Jawbones's PL: 100 (12k Base, Suppressed)
Peaceful moments were rare in Jawbones' life. When she wasn't warding off a saiyan hunter, she was evading tuffles trying to recapture her. And when she wasn't doing either of those, she was either hunting for food to survive or looking for any hide or hair of another Cultiraptor. But she wasn't doing any of those things right now, for once.
The beast breathed a deep sigh as she laid in a cave beside the still waters of a small pond, deep in the lush forests of the Lychee Sector. A butterfly was perched atop her crest as she laid still. A small campfire was lit beside the beast, its warmth fighting the cold of Plant's icy cold night. Hundreds of stars dotted the skies above, and the only sound present was the buzz of insects.
Right now, Jawbones was tired. Tired of fighting, tired of running, tired of talking and screeching and growling. She didn't get to sleep very long most nights- nocturnal predators were always a threat, and even without them her mind didn't often stop thinking. How did the two-leggers live with minds like this?
Jawbones let out a wide yawn. Right now, she was far too exhausted to worry about much. The beast's bright red eyes finally slid shut as she curled her tail and limbs close to her body, dozing off. Just a short little nap couldn't hurt...

After escaping... and recovering from a perilous cornering from a handful of powerful specimens, Quatum quickly set back out into the Tuffle-Lands, seeking new, and perhaps easier specimens for capture. Specifically, he was looking for rogue saibamen roaming about near the Sayain border, those let loose by their monkey-masters to throw themselves in front of Tuffle-Weapons. To the Sayains, they were little more than weapon-sponges meant to soak up damage and, if they were lucky, detonate on the odd Tuffle recruit not reloading his weapon fast enough. To a competent scientist, however, their DNA would serve GREATLY in bio-weapon manufacturing. Artificial life-forms were nothing new in the realms of science, what with Bioandroids and cyborgs existing for many-a-decade yet... But a true life-form artificially created but naturally grown to suit alien terrain!?
Such a weapon would serve the Tuffle race well in future, interstellar conflicts if not the current domestic one. In a matter of hours, Quatum had already found a pair of rogue Saibamen poking and prodding at a young soldier, his body ravaged by the sharp talons and jagged gashes of the chittering plant-men. Their red eyes would turn on Quatum before letting out ear-piercing shrieks, LUNGING at him with the intent to end him too!
Quatum held the last saibamen up by its throat, data encircling it, tying around it like a cocoon before flooding back into the Tuffle's armor. Weak... but knowledge of their bio-chemistry and genetic makeup were more than sufficient for his needs. He would drop the broken, dying creature beside the body of its companion before turning away... His scouter-glasses suddenly picking up on a new power-level! He frowned at the numbers coming back to him, his brow furrowing.
"A power of 100...? In these woods...?" The scientist muttered, cupping his chin between his forefinger and thumb. "What an odd number... To high for Tuffles and animals... Yet too low for most sayains and their servants... A different creature, perhaps?" While the energy itself was unimpressive, weaker than most saibamen, even, Quatum's curiosity as to its source had gotten the better of him. It could be nothing, like a wounded Sayain or some super-fauna of some sort... but then, it could be SOMETHING. Precious genes, perhaps, that could further his new project...
The HATCHIYAK project.
T'would be at least an hour walk through rough foliage and unforgiving ground before the scientist would come to a large cavernous opening, the man letting out a soft groan of exhaustion at the sight of it. Curse it, if his knees weren't already killing him... The damn winding-down of his body making it harder to do the necessary field-work. Tapping his wrist, a green bubble of energy would flash around his body before disappearing, indicating his shield was now active. The old Tuffle would STEELE himself with a deep breath... before venturing inside, mentally preparing himself for, what was no doubt to be, an unfortunate spelunking adventure!
Turns out, t'was not as bad as he made it out to be. While it was a deep cave, the path was relatively straight forward, natural steps formed by a dying stream giving the Tuffle enough of a grip to aid his throbbing knees! He would come to a large central chamber at the bottom of the cave, a moderate lake-like pool near the center surrounded on all sides by a thin border of rocky landmass. Might've been a place of natural beauty, if Quatum had the eye for such frivolous things, something Tuffle children would eagerly set out to catalogue in safer, more assured times.
Nostalgia, however, wasn't the reason Quatum came down here... That was. The man actually allowed a pseudo-excited smile to curve up his lower-lip, the old man folding his arms behind his back as he slowly approached the beast, a raptor-like creature curled up beside the lake. Initial scans indicated it was likely a female and had similar characteristics to that of local Saibamen... At least 50% of their DNA was shared and organized similarly, indicating a bond between their species! ...Of what nature, he could not yet say. Only once he extracted a portion of its DNA would he be able to begin a more accurate assessment!
"Hm... What kind of animal could you be...?" Quatum mused, taking step-after-cautious-step towards the beast! "A rogue saibaman prototype...? Or the evolution of their genetic template? Perhaps... Even an ancestor, perhaps...?"
Green numbers and energy would flow out from around Quatum, the mass of data shaping itself into a sayain-hand that reached for the creature... Just touching it would be enough to gather the cells he needed... If necessary, he would subdue the beast to get his sample.

Jawbones's tail twitched at the distant sound of footsteps, but she didn't awaken. A voice pondering her being caused her claws to clench. The smell of her kind's blood made her throat rumble with a quiet, low growl. And the tell-tale scent of a Tuffle's ki approaching her body snapped her eyes open.
"NO-!!" Jawbones lurched backwards with a screech, jumping back in a panic as if she'd woken up to find a horrific spider crawling on her. She narrowly flailed past the odd green streams of data, landing on her feet with a SPLASH, knee-deep in the pond nearby. Her heart hammered in her chest as her vision came back into focus, locking onto the hauntingly familiar sight of a Tuffle scientist standing before her. She could smell the blood of other Saibamen lingering around him, making the situation all-too clear.
The beast's shocked expression quickly shifted to unadulterated fury as she looked down at Quantum. "You...!" She hissed to herself, memories of her time in captivity resurfacing and only fueling the bloodlust in her eyes. With another earsplitting bellow, Jawbones opened her mouth and fired a plume of acidic spit at the doctor.
Truth be told, Jawbones wasn't fully convinced that she was awake, and that this wasn't a nightmare.

Quatum would have been annoyed at the beast RECOILING at his approach... had the specific noise it made not caught his attention. As the dinosaur-like saiba-relative scrambled out of range, the Tuffle tilted his head in thought.
"'No...?'" He muttered. It must have just been a sound this thing made, akin to the average Saibaman's chittering and screeching. It just so happened that it sounded like a word. Such things were common in the animal kingdom like with dogs and their howls or cats and their meows. ...But then, it did it again... This time the Tuffle tapped his eye-piece, pressing a button that would receive the sound and translate it into text at the base of his vision.
"'You...?'" Quatum would utter once more, thoroughly perplexed. From the way this thing's head is structured, it shouldn't be able to use its lips to make such a... dexterous action! Reptiles weren't known for having highly complex vocal-cords nor the ability to use their lips with such precision as to form speech-like patterns consistently! But this being... did it twice. Could it be... that something with such a primitive body-structure... have Tuffle-like intelligence...? Although it went against protocol when dealing with dangerous, wild animals (let alone against REASON), Quatum would offer a hand out to the beast, an olive-branch one might say.
"Come now." Quatum would say quietly, trying to make his harsh voice as welcoming as possible. "You needn't be so rash with your life. Allow me to sample your DNA and I will-"
Quatum blinked as his vision was COMPLETELY obscured by a blanket of acid, the hot, BURNING liquid completely covering his shield! He sighed and rolled his eyes, tapping a few quick commands into his gauntlet. Suddenly, Quatum's shape would FLASH and the acid would disappear, a data-stream quickly radiating out of the scientist before forming into a taller, larger Sayain before him! Jawbones' acid now harmlessly splattered off the Data-servant to either side, completely missing Quatum as he scanned the Saibasaur!
It would only be now that his sensors would pick up the sudden SPIKE of power coming from the beast, Quatum's eyes WIDENING in shock to the point his surprise nearly knocked him back a step!
"T...Twelve-thousand!?" He exclaimed, staring at Jawbones! "What power for such an... underdeveloped creature! Perhaps capture is preferable to mere samples in this circumstance."
To test his hypothesis, Quatum would extend his hand, signaling for the sayain to follow suit! The data-servant would level his hand at the beast and fire-off a LARGE emerald energy-wave at Jawbones, PUSHING past her acid-stream and NAILING her right in the mouth!

Quantum's attempts to reason with Jawbones were only met by the scathing response of her Ivy Jet. The scorching acid cascaded down onto the Tuffle- the raptor hoped that the conflict would end here with a burning corpse. But she wasn't so lucky, as a saiyan-like construct dispersed her attack. Leaping back to the opposite side of the pond, Jawbones lowered her form and snarled viciously.
"Underdeveloped?! You little-" Her eye twitched again as she parroted the man's insult, before being silenced again by the mention of capture. No- no, she couldn't go back there, not ever again. Before she could remark back about how she was now planning to make his death a slow and painful one, his data-servant pushed aside the last of her acidic blast, rushing forwards to slam her in the face.
The beast let out a grunt of pain as the data construct's fist landed firmly on her nose, though she didn't budge from where she was standing. On the bright side for Quantum, his minion had landed an attack on the mighty beast!... But on the other side, it was now right in front of her teeth.
Jawbones snapped her head forwards, aiming to crunch down onto her prey's extended arm and sink her teeth in deep. If she managed to land her strike, an odd, revving sound would rumble from within her throat, as her teeth started to spiral around in her mouth like the serrated blade of a chainsaw to sink deeper and deeper in, before she'd release her grip and try to hurl the data-servant into the water.
Jawbones spit out a loose, bloody tooth into the sand below. She locked eyes with Quantum. "I'll offer you one chance, beast," Hatred and rage oozed from her voice as she stared, unblinking at the Tuffle. "If you shut your trap and run now, and I'll give you a thirty-second head start before I come to devour you."

Ah, this entity's intelligence was confirmed. Primitive and woefully out-of-date its body might appear, somehow it managed to upkeep a (presumably) complex brain and neural system! In its outrage, the reptilian spoke more fluently than its previous one-word acknowledgements, even showing a sense of ego when it took the Tuffle's observation personally! All of this RACED through Quatum's mind, with an almost naive-style of excitement. ...Or, rather, excitement as to what this creature's DNA might contribute to his latest project.
Its cheekiness, however, would have to be bred out of its inevitable clones, however, as with the data-servant's arm extended, the reptilian saiba-beast would SHOOT forward with its jaws wide open, aiming to SNAP at the construct's arm! Quickly, Quatum would input a command into his wrist the servant letting off ANOTHER blast of energy STRAIGHT down the creature's throat! It would be a shame to destroy such a... valuable intelligence, but he would have clones upon clones worth of copies to experiment in the future. The original isn't EXACTLY essential...
"What resilience!" Quatum gasped as Jawbones bit RIGHT THROUGH the energy-wave and down onto the data-servant's wrist! He was AMAZED by the creature's stubborn durability, taking a full-power energy-wave down it's windpipe like that... but even MORESO when its jaws SHATTERED the Servant's arm at the ELBOW like a piece of glass! Quatum's head JERKED to the side as a wild spark JOLTED from the side of his head, his glasses flickering with *ERROR* and *SYSTEM FAILURE: REBOOTING* messages, the Tuffle only frowning with displeasure. His data-servant recoiled at the loss of its arm, falling HARD on its back like an toppled statue, its lifeless face staring up at the ceiling.
20% Damage Sustained. Energy Reserves Falling.
"What!?" Quatum growled, tapping his glasses to reset them! "An energy drain!? From WHERE!?"
Unknown. Sensors Unable To Determine Source. System Overheating. Maximum Combat Output Reduced by 66%.
"Damn it all!" Quatum cursed, growing more agitated by the second! He tapped commands into his wrist-computer, quickly instating regeneration-commands into his servant. As he did so, the dinosaur, seemingly recognizing Quatum's weakness, would offer the scientist a... temporary avenue of escape, should he power down his only offensive means of protection! At that, the scientist would pause, glancing up at Jawbones as he made note of her apparent cruel and deceptive streak before returning to his commands.
"A specimen like you is unique." He would start to say, his data-servant slowly regrowing its lost arm. "I have yet to identify a creature of your specific body-structure and DNA-patterns to have this kind of power or intelligence at your command. An experiment like this must not end sooner than is absolutely necessary. Do you understand?"
Suddenly, the servant would sit up stiffly, mechanically rising to its feet and shifting jerkily into a battle-stance.
"I require your DNA. Either you come to my lab with me, allow me to take a sample, or I must subdue you. These are your three choices."

Jawbones' serrated, rapidly rotating teeth made quick work of the digitized construct's arms. A few of her teeth dislodged and sunk into its shoulder, still trickling with vile, pale green acid pooling around their points. She wasn't sure if this thing she was fighting was capable of even feeling pain, but if it was then the agony caused by the strike was not going to fade anytime soon. At least, not until the poison dissolved.
Afterwards, she'd try to slam the body with her tail to catapult it back to Quantum and far away from herself. Whatever that mindless servant was supposed to be didn't matter, she didn't like it.
When she made her offer to let Quantum live for a few seconds longer, the doctor's denial came as no surprise to the raptor... But what puzzled her was how the man talked of her. To him, she was a unique specimen from the wilds to be detained and researched, undoubtedly in the name of that petty war, but she'd already experienced the Tuffles' torturous science. "...You really don't know, do you?!" The Tuffleswere the ones to give her a mind in the first place. The experiments on the Cultiraptor had been top secret due to their brutality, and it seemed like that information was still kept hidden.
"I've got a better option than those three excuses. How about I TEAR YOU APART!?!" The raptor screeched in rage in response to Quantum's ultimatum. She rushed forwards, aiming to leap right over his Data-Servant and slam her claws right onto the mad scientist himself.

"What I understand, creature, is that you are clearly distrusting of me." Quatum answered flatly at the reptilian's apparent incredulousness! "...Which, in turn, implies you have suffered some grievance at the hands of someone who looks like me. The difference is, I do not require you in your entirety to forward my research. All that I require is your DNA... And I WILL have it. It is a matter, at this point, of how much you are willing to comply and how much you will make me defend myself." He spoke slowly, emphasizing handfuls of words just to make sure his point was made. The scientist, did NOT need to torture this animal to get what he needed... he had CLONES for that. What he needed from this beast was a sample large enough to survive containment and the trek to his lab. As far as Jaws should have been concerned, all she would be receiving would be a prick on the thigh where a large amount of, granted, blood would be taken for cloning purposes. The worst she would suffer from him as a sting on her hide and maybe some minor exhaustion leading into the next day.
...But no, she was determined to give in to her instincts and KILL him.
Oh, very well. Subduing her it is.
Jaws would LUNGE at Quatum and OVER his servant, the tuffle gritting his teeth in shock as her claws RAKED across his chest... or rather, the shield guarding his chest. A green Wall would BLINK into existence between the saibasaur's massive fangs and his body, the the point of her nails RAKING ones and zeros off like shards of cheap glass which, in turn, would disappear the instant she completed her strokes!
Power reserves dropping to 70%. Identification of Power Drain Has Failed. Reinitializing. Scan in Progress.
Suddenly, a green, holographic arm would LATCH around the long, serpentine-like neck of Jaws, WRENCHING her back and away from its master! The Data-Servant would RIP Jaws away from Quatum by the back of her head, lift it up and BASH it against the stony earth below, aiming to STUN her harshly and, perhaps, knock a bit of fight out of her. The sayain data-servant would then plant its knee on her throat, should it manage to ground her, pinning her there and making it exceptionally difficult for her to reach her subduer with how far her head was from her body!
"Once more, I urge you to cease this superfluous aggression." Quatum stated, withdrawing a rather large, but empty syringe from his lab-coat as he approached. "I only require your blood. You will survive and I will not cause any more pain than you force me to. Do you understand, creature?"
