The New Chancellor - AT - CLOSED

"I need to go in there." A trace of heavy irritation had seeped into Amara's tone as she stood before the guard post stationed outside the governmental building. "It's a disgrace of Tuffle protocol to allow a single military man to request the presence of the former advisors with no public reasoning." It would be all too easy to just overpower the regular guards and waltz in herself, but Amara didn't want to cause any sort of stir. This may be a potential subversion to the planet's democracy, but it wasn't a violent one. Still, the men looked unconvinced at her plea. A bit understandable as 'Leriac' was still a rather foggy name to most in the Tuffle public. Yes, she saved a town the one time and whatnot, but that was hardly enough to be considered a full 'Hero'. "Unless you'd prefer me to go contact General Cheri herself and inform the good woman of your utter ineptitude in the matter of upholding Tuffle law?" The pink-haired woman whom she'd fought beside in the past had apparently been a big deal. Much snarky in person than the legends let on, but that was beside the point.

The threat had finally cracked and the soldiers begrudgingly stood aside. It wasn't like Amara was openly armed at the moment so they had no reason to suspect anything. A simple warning of 'don't cause trouble' and she was in, rapidly striding across the gloomy courtyard towards the advisory chambers. With great restraint she flung the great doors open immediately after 'Shanks' had finished his persuasive speech. "With all due respect, Commander, this seems to be more akin to a military coup than anything else. Must I remind the counsel here that the Chancellory has always gone to an elected candidate regardless of situations in the past? Even WHILE embroiled in war? It is true that the Saiyans have found themselves a new monarch, but to hastily elevate an opportunist to near supreme power out of fear would be a very unwise move." Aside from the rather plain tint to her hair and muscular frame, Amara - or Leriac in this case - looked every bit as Tuffle as the next. Though the combat gear and openly displayed armor certainly made her seem much more militaristic than any average citizen. "There's been no public notice of this at all. If there is genuine intention to promote Shanks to Chancellor, that would be a most previous assault to the Tuffle's very foundation as a Democracy. That is what elevates our leaders above the brutally selected ones of the Saiyans. We pick by all merit, not just brute strength or political power."

As much as Yangcong didn't like the fact that some random woman had came to stop him, he was shocked that Korado had came as well. He'd lightly squint his eyes and looked to the woman with a slight raised brow.

"I don't know who you are, but we have had too much trouble as of late. There is a new Queen on the throne and we are unsure of her intentions.  Since we had the attack on the Capital, we are in a worst and deeper situation than ever before. Peace is a long shot at this point and we still don't know what the Queen of the saiyans plans to do about this city and the tuffle race."

He'd look back at the elders before focusing his attention on Korado.

"As much as we can stand here and debate whether or not to have a proper election on the whole matter. We are currently in a time bomb situation. With the assault on the Capital and our people being blamed for it because of a rogue tyrant.


We have no choice but to defend this city and by electing me as Chancellor we won't have that problem if the Queen chose to attack us. Anyone who was there during the assault on the capital, knows that we don't have someone as Chancellor, then another rogue tuffle will rise up and do as they please and assault the city again.

We have to take the stand now without the elections. We aren't like the saiyans and we don't have to come to fighting for the throne. If we want the peace that we have been wanting, then now is the time to select someone for that role rather than wait for our impending doom.  With a leader representing the tuffles, the Queen will think twice to attacking our city and with my current power level, she will reconsider any kind of retaliation."

Korado just listened as the Shanks pointed out that there was a new queen and since Yangcong attacked the saiyan they would be more willing to make an all-out attack on the tuffles. That much was true and the tuffles didn't seem to be all that strong. Still, this guy seemed very strongly agiasnt having an election since they didn't have a lot of time. Korado could concede that was the case. Furthermore, if they didn't gain a leader to lead the tuffles soon, a rouge tuffle might risk doing something that would endanger them. Korado considered this before sighing, "It seems you have good intentions but this is not the way to go about it. Just hold an election right now. Let's get all those who wish to run. I'm sure it'd only take a few days for the tuffles with the vast technology to quickly decide who should lead?" Korado was quite sure this was the case. They were all smart they could figure it out.

Amara made some good points as well noting that just cause of his reputation he shouldn't be using fear to force people to select him as a leader. That was the sign of a dictator. He had to agree to that though he didn't speak it. He was going to assume good intentions of everyone here unless something countered that form of thought. Furthermore, Amara did declare she was not going to try to become a leader of the tuffles, "That is fine but suppose that Shanks here is the only one willing to lead in this troubling time if he is the only one is there any need of an election?" He was playing a bit of devil advocate here. If no one else wanted to run to lead the tuffles, then why not elect the only man willing to do it. Of course, that was probably to hopefully cue someone to stand up to challenge the truffle. Anyway, Amara seemed suspect of Commander Shanks's strength, which while high, Korado just assumed he had some suit to increase his power a great deal. He had met a random human with a power level of <8,000> units. Power was not a sign anyone was suspicious and maybe Amara was stretching a bit to assume that was the case. He could be wrong of course, though he'd have to wait to see what Shanks and Amara said next to make any real judgements.

"Well that started promising but turned bitter right quick, I must say." 'Leriac' turned to Korado with an expression of cold emotionlessness. "There is no precedence nor permission written in law that allows any sort of emergency to thrust someone in the Chancellery on such short notice. And this is hardly the case of an active army marching for Hatchi City as we speak - this is fear that a newly elected Queen may do something soon. So no. Under no circumstance should this man, accredited or not, be allowed to so easily bypass the fundamental building blocks of what makes our government tick. You'd know that if you spent more time here, I'd presume... but given by your cadence and outfit that seems to not be the case." Amara felt a little harsh of insulting Korado like that, but she needed to present a strong and unwavering front to win this case. The thought that the Tuffles would be so easily spooked into accepting a potential despot as their leader was horrifying. The man was already a military commander. Giving him executive power alongside that meant merging two high offices into one. A risk to be sure.

"As for you, sir," She spun on her heel to face 'Shanks' again, arms crossed defiantly. "I'd assume such an esteemed military commander would be well aware that the Challencery has little to do with defending our people? And that what it does do can be already accomplished by a man in your position during wartime?" Her hands spun loosely as if gesturing to nothing and everything around her at once. "If your goal is to make peace and protection, exercise what authority you already have. Form a defense. To be Chancellor is not merely about wartime practices. The Chancellor is a guiding light of legislature and judiciary alike. To demand that power for the claimed reason of defense against a potentially rogue element belonging to the enemy... it's downright ludicrous."

He'd look at them and shaking his head in disbelief while looking at Amara.

"You clearly don't know how this system is ran. Long ago the tuffle chancellor at the time, had clashed with the saiyan leader at the time. Both had given the ultimate sacrifice. Though the war has somewhat calmed down and now has risen to a great height due to a terrorist act. Now we have a Queen that leads their army and what about us? You really expect us to have an election when we are being looked at as the ones who did that terrorist attack? You have to understand the principle of things. You really expect us to have an entire election when our very city can be attacked at any moment? There is a reason that we have leaders in the first place, they lead the people and overall is the statue of our very foundation. Other foreign nations and even the saiyans know, that an established leader that is representing in an official capacity that can be seen by others. It will make them think twice of attacking us. 

The reason why we haven't been holding any elections as of late is because of the war. Since the saiyans didn't have anyone on the throne, we didn't have to worry about leadership. I am willing to take on the leadership role just until the war effort is over with. After that I will resign and someone else can take the mantle."

He would then look at Korado, who clearly knows about the Queen. 

"Anyone who is troubled and powerful, meets the same merits as that terrorist Yangcong. I wish we could have an election and do it the right way. But look around you, do you really think that is best when we got a Queen who can order all of her troops to attack our city? We don't have a leader to defend us or give us any commands. We would scatter like roaches. 

Yes, I am a Commander and General Cheri can also lead as well. But when it comes down to ultimate leadership and the control of the entire army. That is what the Tuffle Chancellor is for. I would first plan to talk to the Queen and try to establish peace first. There has to be someone with leadership in order to establish that officially. By doing an election may very well be too late if the Queen does decide to retaliate because of what had happened to the city. You two could even come with me for negotiations and such. You two have a strong power levels that I can sense. We have to make it known to the planet that we have a chancellor and once the Queen finds that out, that is when she will seek that chancellor out. But I will be the one who seeks her out and try to negotiate peace.

Everything went to chaos because no leaders were established. I truly believe that if there was a Queen or King on the throne, that Yangcong wouldn't have attacked the city."

He'd look at the both of them with a confident stare.

Korado just listened as Shanks explained about the politics but he didn’t care. Not because it was not interesting but he felt this man was not getting the point. Korado was quite sure that Shanks was not being that honest. He knew what he was doing was against the way of the Tuffles. And the saiyans had not attacked yet. There was no reason not to hold an election right now. And it was pretty much he wanted to be made a leader right now so they could hold an election after the war, “That is how a tyrant starts. You cannot abandon your principles even in your darkest days because once you give them up then you won’t be able to reach back and take them up once more. It is easier to fall into despair and be willing to not follow the systems that protect these people. But that does make it right.”

Korado snorted as Shanks thought that people would scatter like roaches if the Queen arrived. “The queen won’t arrive. If you're so fearful that she will attack, I'll handle her.” Korado calmly said, “You can have the election and find a leader. I’ll go and face her myself. I’ll make sure you all have more than enough time.” He had his technology and he was confident that he could deal with the queen if he played his cards right. He also claimed that Yangcong would probably not attack the city if there was a queen or king letting him snort, “He was a madman he’d have attacked regardless. He wanted to end the war with threats and violence. Don’t try to make him out to be otherwise.” Korado shook his head. This was running in circles. Why wouldn’t he see reason and just hold an election? With no General Cheri arriving he only had at most one other figure and this was the lady here. He had a good chance to win, he imagined.

Anyway, he listened to Amara speak, echoing that it would be best for them to run an election, to keep their image up. That was something he agreed with. If they didn’t hold an election it showed they were panicked and disorganized. She also made clear she’d not allow him to become the leader without a fight, which Korado more than agreed with. He’d like to help the tuffles, and while a fight was not something he looked forward to, he was sure it may be the only way to see sense. The peace part she didn’t seem to agree as much but Korado remained steadfast, “I’ll make peace. That is why I came back. I don’t care if it's impossible. I will make it possible whether it's with my mind or my fists. I won’t ever stop moving forward.” Korado was confident in that even if he was being very idealistic. He would still fight for that dream. Korado mentally began preparing himself for an escalation of this situation but hoped that wouldn’t happen.

At least Korado shirked the role of Devil's Advocate as the proceedings went on. Clearly, the Commander was already set on his path towards an immediate effective election and no amount of parlay would change his opinion. It was bad faith to straight-up engage in a fight with him even IF Shanks was adamant about this... but that conundrum wouldn't last very long. As if a flip had switched, the Tuffle before them stepped forward. Like casting aside a blanket, a very familiar and piercing signature shone through the falsified one that both Amara and Korado had been fooled by. "You." A single word rolled from the woman's lips; Amara spoke devoid of emotion.

Of course, she had little reason to believe any of the (important) men in the room had deduced her identity as of yet. Amara's connection to both Korado and Yangcong would make it a point worth mentioning had they noticed, so for now she'd operate under the assumption that she hadn't been uncovered. The rough Tuffle beelined straight for her, no doubt seeing the bigger Power Level as the immediate threat. He was slightly stronger and indeed very fast, but Amara had perfected her fighting style around narrow evasion for nothing. A split second before Yangcong's wild swing connected, Amara's upper body leaned away from the path of the blow, his fist whistling by her cheek. Following her bodies' momentum from the twisting dodge her own arm surged forth, aimed directly at her assailant's stomach.
