Although K4 felt sad, he couldn't say why. Maybe it was the composition of Earth's atmosphere having an effect on his brain chemistry, or because Hibernal died. The war machine set out for answers, crossing mountains and forests and half a continent, only to end up perched on top of an abandoned tractor. It was a quaint petrol-powered artifact, and K4 could have thrown it to the moon if he so desired. Which he didn't. Instead the cyborg decapsuled a juice box and began drinking. Apple and cauliflower, the blend felt appropriate for the cold, dry and bright night — Earth's moon was at a splendorous waning crescent. K4 was too anxious to appreciate the sky properly, he took a snapshot and filed it away. Better save it for later.
People organize stars by constellations, machines use boxes. Being somewhat both, K4 found Arcose's and estimated Vegeta's by reducing the radian by 68.(2)%. The finger he kept pointed at the sky didn't move as he traced the direct route between them. How did Ise cross it in five billionths of a second? He pondered over a loud sip.
Space, time, and tachyons — all can be faster than light. So was the friend who had magicked Ise across the galaxy. They couldn't have crossed the distance in the set time frame, they were still alive. A wormhole, on the other hand, would have allowed them to puncture space at a survivable energy cost. The question was on whether this hypothetical wormhole was naturally occurring, and tethered Arcose to Vegeta, or artificial, and reproducible...
The juice box burst into flames as K4 clenched his fist. Maybe he didn't crack wormhole travel, but he could still perfect it! He produced another juice box, drank it in one squeeze. It was plain ginger, good for some organ he didn't have. He burned it also.
