At least Tiamat wasn't going to force Liari away when the time came... That helped her calm down... A bit. That, and the neck-rubbing, something the majin was really starting to notice now. The poor little girl felt sick and exhausted from all the ups and downs coming from this day, her emotions shooting to the tallest peak only the face-plant down the the lowest trough. All she wanted to do was find a nice, dark hole-in-the-ground and curl up in it so she could sleep for a week... that would be nice... Yeah... she glanced up at the woman who held her, Liari's muscles tensing slightly at the strength in the kai's words... It felt as if things were reaching an uncomfortable balancing point, as if this was where the tension was beginning to plateau. Maybe things would begin to calm down now...?
She hoped so...
...Because she was tired...
Resting her cheek against Tiamat's shoulder and limply wrapping her arms around the kai's neck, the little blue majin's eye-lids would begin to droop, her expression slackening slightly as she felt an almost IRRESISTABLE surge of lethargy wash over her. It was as if she hadn't slept for DAYS which, actually, wasn't too far from the truth! She was exhausted and, if she had her way, she would just flat-out go to sleep right here and let Tiamat handle the rest. It was what she'd have done WAY back in the day with Laezi! She OFTEN woke up to her twin scolding her for being so undisciplined! She didn't care then, so why would she now..?
...Because someone cared about her now... and that someone might need her or something...
"Mmmmph..." She grunted softly, trying to blink the sleep out of her eyes. "...Hate tired..."
Apparently his mask was seen as a deceiving way, yet he already had the countermeasures for that. He would struggle to move his left arm as best as he could and finally, took a grip of the mask that hid his face and revealed it to the both of them.
The dusty old bone looking man that had a skeleton skull for a face with a set of blue eyes where the sockets were. The ancient look and style of the bones themselves looked to be ancient at best and staring at the both of them with his newfound face, he slightly chuckled as he placed back the mask.
"I was once a human by the name of Jester Grime. I was a famous circus performer before my impending demise in a house fire. I had made a deal with a demon. Allowing me to continue to live on in this world... what he didn't tell me however.. was that the exchange would be taking my wife from me. Yes I have my life... but I lost my world ever since..." He calmly sighed to himself before continuing.
"I have only heard of their recent events when I was on an offworld planet. They are currently growing in number in terms of getting demons to work with them. Since I know of the culture since the first demon I had met.... they were considered enemies with you shinjins... but they are willing to put that hatred aside in order to come to a common goal. I was able interrogate one of their henchman demon's while I was on that planet. It turns out that they plan to make a demon army in order to accomplish their goal. That's why I have been looking for others to help me put a stop to them."
Tiamat was a little surprised to see Liari switch from alarmed and ready to fight to... well... what essentially looked like a tired child, trying to keep up with the grown-up while her face visibly drifted into the sleepy zone more and more. For a moment, she wondered how long it had been since the Majin had a good night of sleep since it seemed like she had trouble with that.
'' My my, someone is getting sleepy. Yeah, we should probably be going soon-ish. I still have to create us a nice and cozy spot so we can spend the night and get some rest. Heck, I haven't even found a spot yet.''
Almost forgetting for a moment that she was talking with someone she considered dangerous as if Liari just got priority in her needs, which was a little weird, even to herself.
Jester's story was... convincing, to say the least, she had heard of demons tricking mortals into signing contracts such as this, and the visual he gave them was convincing, although there seemed to be something off about it... like it was too perfect, designed for a show... but all things considered, Tiamat had not seen that many burn victims in her life.
'' Ah, so you're one of those, who sold their soul, as they say. You poor, poor man. I am sorry for your condition.''
Yeah, that was the terrible thing, and why Tiamat would be fooled by him at the moment. Demons are the only creature able to escape the all-seeing capacity of the Shinjins, and as such, Jester would have gone under the radar, even if he was strong.
'' Well, if they ever do achieve to build an army as you say, I'll certainly be there to stop them... well... I SHOULD be there to stop them. You never know when a lead might bring you to the other side of the galaxy, after all. I'll consider you an ally, for now.''
Those words felt genuine, and Tiamat meant them. With a slow and graceful movement, she would get Liari to either fly with her or support her weight with her own flight.
'' Now, while I am glad this misunderstanding between us is over, I should be putting this adorable little blueberry to sleep. Do you have anyway I could contact you? I can use telepathy, but it's a bother when people can't answer.''
"Mmm..." Liari mumbled in agreement to the goddess that held her. Liari was REALLY starting to feel it, her inconsistent sleep... Majin, unlike other, non-magical creatures don't necessarily have anything... consistent about them. Sometimes they were tired just after taking a nap, other times famished after a feast. They were creatures as wild in their needs as they were in their desires and the Majin's sudden shift in energy-level was proof-enough of this. She went from an adrenaline spike of only a few seconds to feeling she could sleep for DAYS! All she needed as a nice, warm and soft place... and maybe someone to snuggle with... Yeah, that sounded nice... She smiled dreamily as Tiamat made her promise, Liari relaxing a little more into the Kai's gentle grip... Her eyes would drift closed and her mind would drift elsewhere, taking her to a happier land...
...Or at least, she would until Tiamat declared her allegiance with this mysterious Jester. Her eyes would snap open, glancing up at the pink-skinned goddess, looking at her with apprehension. Did she really buy everything she was being told right now...? And why should she? This guy was probably a wizard! All this talk of demons and mortals made no sense to her in context but she knew one thing for certain: She didn't know if she liked this guy very much... And if she didn't like him.... she couldn't trust him! The adults were still talking, though and so Liari would remain silent and leave her questioning until they were out of earshot of the (now revealed) two-faced monster-man... who Liari was having a REALLY HARD TIME looking at now! He was just TOO WEIRD FOR HER! First he takes off his flat, boring face, then he shows off he has a second UGLY face UNDER his face!? Liari felt that sickness rising up in her throat again... She didn't like this guy... and she wanted to go away now...
It had seemed that his story was believable enough for the kai to rest easy now. Also apparently like the majin was down for the count and wanting to sleep. Yangcong was now hoping to add more fuel to the fire of trying to be a manipulator of things.
"I must warn you however, Project Silence isn't the only enemies you have to worry about. There is also an Arcosian by the name of Azoth. He has recently taken the throne of Planet Arcose. He was also the winner of the Earth Tournament. There have been rumors going around that he killed another arcosian in order to claim that title.
There is also another man out there by the name of Yangcong. The latest reports on him is that Azoth also had killed him off as well. With the recent attack on the Capital on Planet Plant. Its seems like that troublesome war criminal is dead. If we are going to really try to save this world, we have to look out for the arcosians.
We are currently threading through dangerous territory. Do you guys perhaps have some allies against Project Silence. I fear that they will be making their moves and if we don't do anything about it. They could potentially gain allies."
Tiamat could feel the unrest growing in Liari, and she could not blame her either. Jester just had this aura from him, and while Tiamat was trying to go through that to see an ally into the man, both her instinct and Liari's own were telling her to stay away from the likes of him. For now, she would him lowly to Liari and caress the back of her head. She could get some information off of this one man before things went south and with her general lack of a lead in the current world's situation compelled her to keep in the conversation.
'' Don't worry Liari, this man won't attack us, and his magic is no match for mine. You are not going back in the ball anytime soon, and for now, I am using him to get some information.''
The voice of Tiamat would whisper into Liari's mind, her telepathy really came in handy in this sort of situation. She kept listening to that Jester individual, but the words he spoke alerted Tiamat that he was trying to manipulate her in a certain direction.
'' I'll have to stop you right there, Azoth Icepeak's intentions are pure, that I know for certain. The arcosian he killed was none other than Hibernal the Terrible, who committed severe atrocities around the universe. As for that Yangcong man, well, the problem is dealt with.''
She paused for a moment, raising an eyebrow. For now, the Arcosian Empire had quite miraculously fallen into the hands of someone who had good intentions. Which left the question of... why would Jester want her to worry about them?
'' As for allies, I have a couple of friends around Earth, strong ones too, so even if it came to a fight, I believe our chances of winning are alright, although I have to admit, I don't fully know their strength as a group.''
T'was like a game of ping-pong between two opposing forces, though neither seemed eager to admit it. Both rebounding their points, as far as Liari could understand them, with the only intermission coming from Tiamat herself, assuring the little blue girl that there was nothing to be afraid of. It was a comfort, if a small one, to behold the tension of this conversation leveling out somewhere more manageable than before, the two forces trading opinion rather than accusation, beliefs over perceived truths. Jester would point out a great evil in the galaxy, this Azoth-creature, before swiftly being rebuked by Tiamat who threw her opposite view back at him! So many names and places and people Liari had never met being thrown around back and forth like it was common knowledge...
IT WAS DISORIENTING TO THE POOR GIRL!
From how many times her head whipped back and forth between both ugly-guy and radiant kai, her head was starting to swirl from the vertigo of it all... let alone from the growing feeling of stupidity welling up inside! At this point, she was completely lost last to the context of the conversation, the little blue girl merely groaning in frustrating and shaking her head from trying to make sense of it all! When could they go home, her and Tiamat...? THEIR home, the one the kai had made for them at the base of the mountain? The cold of the mountain-top, though at bay from the coat Liari was wearing, was starting to seep in along her finger-tips and upon her face!
...And there wasn't even any nice caves to crawl into around here...
"Hmph..." She grumbled reaching into her coat and her breastplate beneath, withdrawing a small snack she had stored there and began munching on it. T'was a cookie she made, experimenting with magic, this one, while not GOOD, gave her something to do other than rattling her mind with unexplained space-trivia! Not-evil-evil-guys taking places from evil-evil-guys... It was so much simpler to just... enjoy a bite...
